Be part of something big

Finnebrogue is a leading UK-based food producer within the global Sofina Foods Group. We look at what is wrong with food to figure out how to make it the best it can be. Operating from four facilities in Downpatrick, Northern Ireland, Finnebrogue supplies major supermarkets with own-label bacon, sausages, burgers, and vegetarian products, as well as its pioneering Naked range made without nitrites.

We have been recognised as the UK’s Employer of the Year by Grocer Gold and the Best Place to Work in Northern Ireland by the Irish News Workplace & Employment Awards. Our robust People Strategy offers career pathways and development opportunities for all employees, emphasising talent growth and wellbeing with generous benefits for all. We are proud to be the first food producer in the UK and Ireland to achieve the Diversity Mark accreditation and are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace.

Globally, Sofina Foods and its wholly owned subsidiaries operate more than 40 sites and have over 14,000 employees in Canada, UK, Island of Ireland, Germany and France.

Job Purpose

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Supervisor to join our fast-paced production team in our DBP Sauage site. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with manufacturing or team-leading experience who is ready to develop their leadership skills in a supportive environment.

As a Supervisor, you will work closely with experienced supervisors and managers to learn all aspects of production leadership. You’ll play a key role in ensuring operations run smoothly, efficiently, and in line with food safety and quality standards. We will provide full training to help you fulfil your potential.

  • Supervise the day-to-day operation of the allocated production area, ensuring

products are manufactured safely, on time, in full, and to the required quality, food
safety, and customer specifications.

  • Lead, motivate, coach, and develop production operatives, completing inductions,

competency assessments, performance reviews, and identifying training needs to
build a high-performing team.

  • Ensure compliance with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good

Manufacturing Practice (GMP), food safety, health and safety, hygiene, allergen
management, contamination controls, and site security requirements.

  • Oversee the operation, set-up, calibration, and verification of production equipment

and critical control systems, including Vemag, Autoloader, Olympus, X-ray, Metal
Detection, Flow Wrap, Vacpac, and checkweighers.• Monitor product quality and traceability through label verification, weight and
temperature checks, gas checks, production records, and Critical Control Points
(CCPs), taking immediate corrective action where required and escalating food safety
or quality issues appropriately.

  • Manage non-conforming products, rework, product holds/quarantine, species

segregation, stock control, Work in Progress (WIP), date coding, and packaging
materials to maintain brand integrity and minimise waste.

  • Ensure production documentation and KPI reporting are completed accurately and in

real time, monitoring line performance and driving continuous improvement to achieve
operational targets.

  • Maintain high housekeeping standards, ensuring production lines are clean,

organised, and ready for operation, including overseeing washdowns and ensuring
only approved packaging and labelling materials are present on the line.

  • Work collaboratively with the Operations Manager, Quality team, and other

departments to deliver business objectives, support improvement initiatives, and
undertake other reasonable duties within the scope of the role.

Dayshift: 5 days out of 7 - 7am-4/5pm/Finish - £14.84 per hour

Nightshift: 5 days out of 7 - 6pm-4/5am/Finish - £15.34 per hour

This role is part of our Production Pathways Programme. You will start the Programme as a Level 1 trainee supervisor and through training and experience progress through Levels 2 and Level 3.
