Production Technician

Key Information

• Working Location: Tuas (walking distance from MRT)
• 5 day – Mon to Fri (8am to 5pm)
• MNC, Manufacturing Plant
• 80% deskbound paperwork, 20% hands-on production support

About the Role

Support daily manufacturing activities and engineering operations by troubleshooting production issues, coordinating prototype builds, maintaining manufacturing documentation, and assisting with continuous improvement initiatives. The role works closely with cross-functional teams to improve production efficiency, ensure product quality, and support smooth prototype-to-production processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide first-level troubleshooting support to resolve production issues and minimize downtime.
• Assist Manufacturing Engineers with process improvement and optimization initiatives.
• Coordinate and manage prototype build activities, including scheduling, material readiness, and build requirements.
• Assemble and evaluate prototype products based on engineering designs and specifications.
• Review and verify the accuracy of manufacturing documentation, including engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOM), routing, and ERP data before production release.
• Identify discrepancies in engineering documents and submit Engineering Change Notices (ECN) where necessary.
• Work with Production and relevant teams to ensure the correct materials and processes are used.
• Ensure proper material usage and compliance with material control procedures.
• Develop and maintain work instructions and documentation for prototype builds.
• Ensure products meet company quality standards and support corrective actions when issues arise.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Quality, Planning, and Supply Chain teams on design-for-manufacturing and assembly improvements.
• Communicate relevant product, quality, safety, and prototype status updates to stakeholders.
• Maintain proper documentation and filing systems in accordance with record retention requirements.
• Support compliance with ISO 9001:2015 standards and company procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.

Requirements

• Higher NITEC or Diploma in Engineering/ Manufacturing, or a related discipline.
• At least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Exposure to lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices is preferred.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes, engineering drawings and BOMs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and ERP systems.
• Able to work effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate clearly.
