What they need

Cocoa Pack makes chocolate for other brands. We're a growing FDA-registered co-manufacturer in Southeast Portland, and we just moved into a larger building with an automated depositing line, a flow wrapper, a z-fold wrapping and boxing line, and a new cartoning machine. We're looking for a Production Technician to run the line with us. No experience needed; we'll train you.

This is a hands-on job. You'll set up and run the chocolate depositing and packaging equipment, keep the line moving, check the product as it comes off, and keep the records that let us trace every lot. You'll work on a small crew with two Assistant Production Managers who lead the floor each day.

What you'll do

  • Set up, start up and run the depositing line, tempering machines, flow wrapper and z-fold line to the day's production schedule

  • Stage the right recipe, moulds and packaging before start-up, and complete flavor changeovers and end-of-day cleaning inside the planned times

  • Check weight, temper, appearance, wrap and seal, lot code and best-by date through the run, and hold anything that's off spec

  • Record what was made: bars produced, downtime and its cause, waste and crew hours

  • Receive deliveries against the purchase order and keep ingredient, packaging and finished-goods counts accurate

  • Follow our food safety programs on the floor: SQF, organic, kosher and allergen controls, with our Food Safety Specialist

  • Do first-line troubleshooting on the equipment and flag problems that will cost the run

  • Help train and direct temporary packers at their stations

  • Keep the floor safe and clean, and report any injury, near miss or food safety concern the same day

What we're looking for

  • No chocolate or manufacturing experience needed. We train people who want to work hard, and the training takes you all the way to running the line as a specialist

  • Comfortable on your feet for a full shift and able to lift 50 lb

  • Careful with details: weights, lot codes, records

  • Reliable and on time, since the line can't start without you

  • Able to read and follow written procedures and recipes

  • Ready to work hard and learn; we train you on the line, step by step

Benefits

  • Paid time off

  • Overtime paid according to Oregon law

  • Full training on our automated chocolate equipment, with the goal of making you a specialist on it

  • Growth as we add lines and shifts

How to apply

Apply on Indeed with your resume. We'll reach out to schedule a short phone call, then an on-site visit to see the line.
