Production Technician

Description Job Summary: The Production/Manufacturing Technician is responsible for supporting the fabrication, assembly, testing, inventory, and shipment of hardware systems developed by OKSI. OKSI is looking for levels I - III for this opening. This role involves hands-on work in a fast-paced environment, with opportunities to contribute to process improvement and production efficiency.

Job Duties

• Procurement & Inventory Management:

Procure parts from approved vendors and maintain accurate inventory of mechanical, electrical, and optical components. Track stock levels, ensure timely reordering, and maintain inventory control systems to support ongoing and future builds.

• Assembly & Work Instructions:

Follow detailed work instructions to assemble complex systems including drones, optical assemblies, electronic housings, and mechanical enclosures. Contribute to the development or revision of work instructions to improve clarity, safety, and efficiency.

• Testing & Quality Control:

Support test procedures for subassemblies and full systems. Conduct visual and functional inspections to verify quality, performance, and compliance with engineering specifications. Document test results and escalate issues as needed.

• Shipping & Logistics:

Package and label finished systems or parts for shipment to customers or field sites. Follow proper handling protocols for sensitive or classified equipment. Coordinate with shipping carriers and internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery.

• Collaboration & Communication:

Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers to understand build requirements. Provide feedback on design-for-manufacturability issues and suggest improvements based on assembly experience.

• Prototyping & Support:

Assist in the build and refinement of early-stage prototypes. Support rapid iteration by maintaining organized workspaces, managing build parts, and documenting lessons learned from physical builds.

• Documentation & Reporting:

Accurately maintain inventory logs, assembly records, and test reports. Contribute to build documentation, version control, and manufacturing reports that inform future designs and builds.

• Continuous Improvement:

Identify inefficiencies in workflows and propose practical solutions. Contribute to team discussions on how to improve safety, repeatability, and productivity on the manufacturing floor.

Requirements Technical Skills:

• Ability to read mechanical drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
• Experience assembling mechanical and/or electronic systems.
• Familiarity with basic tools and shop equipment (e.g., torque drivers, calipers, soldering irons).
• Competence using inventory tracking systems or ERP platforms.
• Understanding of ESD safety, hardware labeling, and cleanroom/bench practices.
• Familiarity with QA standards and inspection processes.
• Hands-on machining experience—such as operating a lathe or mill—is a plus and can be helpful for rapid prototyping or minor part modifications.

Education: High school diploma or GED required; additional education in a trade or technical field desirable.

Experience: 1–3 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing, prototyping, or technical assembly preferred.
