Production Technologist

Responsible for supporting the safe, efficient, and consistent manufacture of polyurethane foam products within the Block Plant. The role focuses on process optimisation, product quality, waste reduction, cost improvement and new product development while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental and operational standards.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Include the following:

• Competently assist the running of a large industrial materials manufacturing plant.
• Work towards targeted cost improvements including scrap reduction, energy cost reduction and continuous improvement projects.
• Aid the generation of work instructions and risk assessments, as well as driving through Health and Safety initiatives.
• Analyse production data and identify improvements.
• Support new product and formulation development.
• Liaise with the Engineering department to provide effective solutions to the production and manufacturing parts of the business.

Person Specification

• Education to degree level in a Chemistry /Chemical Engineering discipline would be advantageous but not essential.
• IT literate, ideally having experience in the use of databases.
• An understanding of polymer/polyurethane chemistry/processes would be advantageous but not essential.
• Experience of working in a COMAH-regulated environment would be advantageous but not essential.
• Ability to work within a fast-moving process environment.
• Able to work effectively as both part of a team and independently, as well as being able to communicate clearly and give instructions.
• Highly organised.
• Has an excellent work ethic.

Hours of Work

• 8 am-4:30 pm Monday-Thursday 7 am-2:30 pm Friday
