Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Professional Fee Medical Coder specializing in cardiology to review medical documentation and accurately assign diagnosis, procedure, and modifier codes for physician services. The role covers a wide range of professional fee coding, including office visits, hospital encounters, diagnostic cardiac testing, catheterizations, electrophysiology studies, and cardiac device monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS Level II, Evaluation and Management (E/M), and modifier codes for cardiology services.
• Code office visits, hospital encounters, consultations, cardiovascular evaluations, critical care, and follow-up services.
• Assign codes for diagnostic cardiology procedures, including ECGs, echocardiography, stress testing, Holter monitoring, event monitoring, vascular studies, and other noninvasive cardiovascular tests.
• Review and code procedure reports for cardiac catheterizations, electrophysiology studies, cardiac devices, and other invasive cardiology procedures.
• Ensure coding accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable coding guidelines and documentation requirements.
• Apply knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and disease processes when reviewing records.
• Utilize electronic health records (EHRs) and professional fee coding systems to complete coding assignments.
• Support multispecialty professional fee coding operations as required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of BS Nursing or a medical allied health course.
• Must hold an active medical coding certification, such as CPC, CCS-P, COC, or CCS.
• At least 2 years of professional fee medical coding experience.
• Strong understanding of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, disease processes, medical terminology, and cardiac devices.
• Experience in invasive and noninvasive cardiology coding.
• Familiarity with electrophysiology, cardiac device, cardiothoracic, and vascular procedure coding.
• Experience using electronic health record (EHR) platforms, such as Epic, or other professional fee coding systems.
• Experience supporting multispecialty professional fee coding environments.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and commitment to coding quality and accuracy.
