Profee Medical Coder | WFH | 90k SOB

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced SDS / Surgical Professional Fee (ProFee) Medical Coder responsible for reviewing physician documentation and assigning accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier codes for surgical and same-day surgery encounters. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of coding guidelines, payer regulations, and surgical coding methodologies to ensure accurate reimbursement and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review physician documentation, operative reports, and medical records to assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes.
• Code Surgical ProFee encounters in accordance with ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and regulatory guidelines.
• Apply appropriate modifiers and ensure compliance with payer-specific billing requirements.
• Identify documentation deficiencies and communicate with providers when clarification is needed.
• Maintain coding accuracy while meeting established productivity standards.
• Stay current with coding updates, regulatory changes, and industry best practices.
• Participate in quality audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and organizational coding policies.

Qualifications:

• At least 1-2 years of experience in Surgical ProFee coding required.
• Certified Medical Coder (CPC, CCS-P, COC, or equivalent) preferred.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier assignment.
• Experience coding surgical specialties such as General Surgery, Orthopedics, ENT, Urology, OB-GYN, Cardiothoracic, or other procedural specialties is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with E/M coding guidelines and payer-specific requirements.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to meet productivity and quality targets in a fast-paced environment.
