Role Description This full-time Professional Barista role is an on-site position based in Kathmandu. The Barista will prepare and serve a variety of coffee and specialty beverages, ensuring consistent quality and presentation. Daily tasks include operating coffee equipment, managing inventory of ingredients, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene at the coffee station, and following safety and food handling standards. The role also involves engaging with guests, answering questions about menu items, handling orders and payments, and supporting a welcoming, service-oriented environment. The Professional Barista will collaborate with team members and management to uphold RV Group’s standards of customer satisfaction.

Job Purpose

To prepare and serve high-quality coffee, tea, and other beverages while delivering excellent customer service, maintaining product consistency, and ensuring cleanliness and hygiene standards in accordance with company policies.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

1. Coffee and Beverage Preparation

• Prepare espresso, cappuccino, latte, americano, macchiato, and other specialty beverages.
• Operate espresso machines, coffee grinders, blenders, and other beverage equipment.
• Perform milk steaming, frothing, and basic latte art.
• Maintain consistent beverage quality, taste, temperature, and presentation.
• Prepare and serve hot and cold beverages according to standard recipes.

1. Customer Service

• Greet customers professionally and take orders accurately.
• Recommend coffee varieties, specialty drinks, and other menu items.
• Respond to customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints courteously.
• Ensure prompt service and a positive customer experience.

1. Equipment and Workplace Maintenance

• Clean and maintain coffee machines, grinders, utensils, and workstations.
• Perform daily equipment checks and report faults or maintenance requirements.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee counter and service area.

1. Inventory and Stock Control

• Monitor stock levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups, cups, and other supplies.
• Check product freshness, expiry dates, and storage conditions.
• Inform the supervisor of low stock, wastage, and replenishment requirements.
• Assist in stock counting and inventory records.

1. Food Safety and Hygiene

• Follow food safety, personal hygiene, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
• Ensure proper handling and storage of ingredients.
• Prevent cross-contamination and minimize product wastage.
• Maintain compliance with company procedures and applicable regulations.

1. Sales and Teamwork

• Support promotional activities and suggest suitable add-on products.
• Coordinate with kitchen, service, cashier, and other team members.
• Assist in opening and closing procedures, including cleaning and stock checks.
• Support training and knowledge-sharing with junior staff when required.

3. Qualifications and Experience

• High school education or equivalent; hospitality or food and beverage training is an advantage.
• Previous experience as a barista in a café, restaurant, hotel, or similar establishment is preferred.
• Knowledge of espresso extraction, coffee grinding, milk steaming, and beverage preparation.
• Familiarity with coffee machines, grinders, and hygiene practices.
• Professional communication and customer service skills.
