What they need
Professional Dungeon Master Position
Here ye, here ye! Red Castle Games is searching for professional Dungeon Masters (DMs) with experience working with children to join our court of mystical mages.
About the Position
Although knowledge of the mechanics of the game is important, we are primarily looking for storytellers who are passionate about teaching kids social and emotional learning skills through gameplay.
Red Castle DMs have full creative control within the guidelines of our store policy. We provide all necessary materials for players (dice, character sheets etc), so that our DMs can focus on producing the best campaign possible. Additionally, our DMs have access to a wide array of miniatures, lighting, props and set pieces from a full library of resources, in order to make their games feel as immersive as possible.
While the hours of this part-time job are seasonally dependent, scheduling is also consistent and released well in advance. We currently have two D&D programs in which our DMs can choose to participate:
- D&D Academy, September-May: Throughout the school year, DMs lead 2-3 weekly campaigns with shorter sessions. This translates to between 9-12 hours of work per week including prep time.
- Summer Camps, June-August: During the summer, DMs lead week-long intensive camps, totaling around 28 hours of work per week including prep time.
Pay begins at $18.50/hour
Requirements
- Must be 18+ years old.
- Experience working with children, preferably ages 10-17.
- Expertise running table top roleplaying games as a Dungeon Master or Game Master.
- Knowledge of and ability to communicate the rules of Dungeons and Dragons
- Strong storytelling and improvisational skills
- Ability to manage time effectively during games and prep-work.
Responsibilities
- Set-up and clean-up for each session.
- Preparing and leading campaigns in which players can explore important life questions while diving into their characters’ backstories, fantastical worlds, exciting battles, puzzles and roleplay.
- Teaching players the rules to D&D and guiding them through character creation.
- Communicating effectively with Red Castle staff, parents and players to create an inclusive atmosphere for all participants.
- Establishing boundaries and maintaining a collaborative environment at the table.
- Ensuring Red Castle policies are followed, including safe check-in/out procedures.
Pay: $18.50 - $20.00 per hour
