Program Assistant Footsteps Upper School QualificationsHigh school diploma required with associates degree or higher preferredExperience working with children, particularly those with cognitive delaysSPEDIAC training preferredExperience assisting in program implementation, including behavioral interventionsAbility to work with professional staffOutstanding preparation and/or experience may be substituted for some of the above qualificationsGeneral ResponsibilitiesSupport students with global developmental, cognitive delays, physical challenges who attend a self-contained LowerSchool classroomSupport with academics- implementing lesson plans, programming developed by the special education teacher, behavior management, behavior plan, self-help skills, toileting, social skills, and inclusion throughout the school environmentAssist with arrival/dismissalSupport students during inclusion into general education classesKnowledge/will be trained if student uses a communication devicePhysically demanding, may need to lift up to 50 lbsSeeking team player
