Turn Recess Into Something Kids Look Forward To! ⚽

Program Coordinator – Recess Coach

Love working with kids? Enjoy sports, games, movement, and bringing positive energy wherever you go?

ITAV is looking for energetic, dependable, and enthusiastic Program Coordinators – Recess Coaches to help us transform recess into a fun, safe, inclusive, and meaningful part of the school day.

This isn't a job where you simply stand on the sidelines and watch.

You'll be leading games, getting kids moving, encouraging teamwork, helping students work through conflicts, building confidence, and creating the kind of recess experience students can't wait to be part of.

If you love working with young people and believe play can be a powerful way to teach leadership, communication, teamwork, and confidence — we want to meet you!

Who We Are

ITAV is a sports-based youth development organization that uses sports, fitness, structured play, and engaging activities to help young people build confidence, communication skills, leadership, accountability, and positive relationships.

We believe kids learn some of life's most important lessons while they're moving, playing, competing, communicating, and having fun.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Program Coordinator – Recess Coach, you'll help bring energy, structure, and FUN to the school day.

You'll:

  • Lead fun, age-appropriate sports, games, and movement activities.
  • Get students excited about participating — including kids who may not usually join in.
  • Encourage teamwork, communication, sportsmanship, and fair play.
  • Help students build confidence and leadership skills through play.
  • Help students work through disagreements and practice healthy conflict resolution.
  • Create an environment where every child feels welcomed and included.
  • Actively supervise students and keep activities safe, organized, and engaging.
  • Adapt games and activities to support students with different abilities and needs.
  • Build positive relationships with teachers, school staff, students, and the ITAV team.
  • Respond appropriately to student concerns, injuries, incidents, or unexpected situations.
  • Support field days, special events, after-school activities, and other ITAV programs when needed.

You'll Be Great at This If You...

  • Genuinely enjoy working with children and young people.
  • Bring positive energy into a room — or onto a playground!
  • Aren't afraid to jump into a game and participate.
  • Can confidently lead and engage groups of children.
  • Know how to be fun and maintain appropriate boundaries.
  • Are patient, dependable, responsible, and professional.
  • Communicate well with children and adults.
  • Can stay calm when things don't go exactly as planned.
  • Believe every child should have an opportunity to participate and feel successful.
  • Enjoy being part of a team.

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with children or youth.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead games, activities, and groups of students.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Dependability and punctuality.
  • Ability to work in active indoor and outdoor environments.

Even Better If You Have:

  • Experience as a coach, camp counselor, recreation specialist, group leader, school aide, paraprofessional, or after-school instructor.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities or behavioral support needs.
  • Sports, fitness, recreation, or youth development experience.
  • Knowledge of positive behavior management or conflict-resolution strategies.
  • CPR or First Aid certification.

This Role Is Active!

You won't spend your day sitting behind a desk.

You'll be walking, moving, demonstrating games, setting up activities, interacting with students, and spending time indoors and outdoors.

If you enjoy an active workday, this may be a great fit.

Why Join ITAV?

Because recess is more than free time.

It's where kids can learn to communicate.

It's where they practice teamwork.

It's where confidence grows.

It's where new friendships happen.

And sometimes, it's where a young person discovers that they're a leader.

At ITAV, you'll have an opportunity to make those moments happen every day.

Ready to Bring the Energy?

If you're ready to move, motivate, mentor, and make an impact, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply today and help ITAV create playgrounds and programs where every child has an opportunity to play, connect, grow, and thrive!

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
