Working alongside the Program Coordinator or Program Manager, Facilitators help deliver high-quality, engaging programming to girls at assigned sites — building a safe, energetic, and affirming space where participants grow. Facilitators are assigned to a geographic cluster of schools and attend all programs within that cluster. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for youth development, availability during program hours, and a desire to grow in the field. Strong candidates will have demonstrated experience working with groups of youth ages 9+ in a professional setting.

Location Site Assignment

  • Port Chester— Port Chester Middle School (after-school Wed 3:00–5:00 PM).
  • Mt. Vernon— STEAM Academy (Tues)School-day programs, 11:30 AM–3:00PM. Daytime availability is essential for this cluster.

Key Responsibilities

Facilitation & Program Delivery

  • Co-facilitate program sessions at all assigned sites alongside the Program Coordinator or Program Manager — serving groups of 15–30 elementary, middle, or high school girls
  • Deliver Girls Inc. curriculum in person, adapting lesson plan support to be intentional, age-appropriate, interactive, and relevant to participants
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and well-managed learning environment; uphold group norms and enforce safety protocols at all times
  • Serve as a positive role model for girls, staff, and volunteers — demonstrating professionalism and commitment to high-quality program delivery
  • Support participant engagement — build rapport with girls, encourage participation, manage group dynamics, and help create a pro-girl environment
  • Supervise participants during field trips and special events, ensuring safety and engagement throughout; option to chaperone overnight camp trips

Lesson Planning & Preparation

  • Complete floating asynchronous prep time each week — prepare lesson plan support materials, review curriculum, and prepare visual aids and activity materials before each session
  • Submit lesson plan contributions to the Program Manager/Coordinator before each session, by the established deadline
  • Attend the Monday in-office session (2:00–5:00 PM) every week — this is the team's required shared planning, training, and coordination time
  • Participate in the Friday team prep block and team meeting when scheduled
  • Participate in quarterly module prep — review upcoming curriculum content, prepare materials, and support session planning

Administration & Documentation

  • Complete session attendance records at each program — submit to Program Coordinator for entry into Compass 360
  • Complete session support notes after each program, documenting participant engagement, challenges, and highlights
  • Complete incident reports for any safety, behavioral, or emergency situations at assigned sites
  • Take photos and highlights from program sites; submit to Program Coordinator for review
  • Build and contribute to the site binder for each assigned school: attendance, lesson notes, and contact list

Communication & Team

  • Communicate proactively with the Program Manager about scheduling, availability, participant concerns, or any on-site issues
  • Participate in weekly 30-minute 1:1 check-in with the Program Manager
  • Complete all required paperwork and administrative responsibilities in a timely manner

Qualifications

  • Experience working with youth ages 8–18 in an educational, recreational, or community setting — demonstrated experience with groups of 15+ participants preferred
  • Proven ability to lead and facilitate youth programs with effective group management and engagement strategies
  • Ability to build positive, empowering relationships with girls and foster self-confidence, leadership, and personal growth
  • Ability to develop lesson plans, adapt curriculum, and deliver engaging large-group activities
  • Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution skills using positive youth development principles
  • Strong communication skills — with young people, families, and school staff
  • Reliable and punctual — consistent attendance is essential for program quality and participant trust
  • Available for Monday in-office sessions (2:00–5:00 PM) and assigned program days within your cluster; school-year term commitment required
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and the mission of Girls Inc.
  • Associate's degree required; relevant work experience will be considered
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation preferred — some clusters require travel between sites
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus

Pay Structure

Part-Time Facilitators are compensated using the model below. Mileage reimbursement is provided for all travel to and from assigned school sites. The model in effect for your position will be confirmed in your offer letter.

Stipend Model:

  • $30.00/hr for program delivery (facilitation) — time spent in front of girls
  • $20.00/hr for planning, prep, team meetings, and administrative time
  • Prep hours are floating — completed independently during the week, with lesson plans due before each session

The stipend model is designed to be transparent, predictable, and reflective of the different kinds of work involved. It is more competitive for experienced facilitators and mirrors the teaching-artist compensation model increasingly used across the youth development sector.
