What they need

ABOUT US

Catholic Charities began in 1926. Nearly a century later, we’re still working to promote the dignity of all people through our programs and services. In 2024, we served 325,000 people through programs that respond to poverty, unemployment, loneliness, mental illness, domestic violence, and family separation. Our dynamic programs serve all, regardless of race, religion, creed, or socioeconomic status. Our programs are anchored at the St. Martin de Porres Center in North Omaha, the St. Juan Diego Center in South Omaha, and the St. Teresa of Calcutta Campus in Northwest Omaha.

ABOUT THIS POSITION

You’ll join a mission-driven team dedicated to empowering human dignity. Though our Catholic faith guides our work, you do not have to be Catholic to join our team or receive services. As Microbusiness and Asset Development Manager, you will play a critical leadership role in strengthening local economic empowerment. You will:

Expand and Enhance Microbusiness Development

  • Oversee and develop programs that support emerging entrepreneurs and small business owners.
  • Update and continually improve on the class curriculum and workbooks, manage a team of contracted instructors, and expand the classes.
  • Increase the geographic footprint of the entrepreneurial classes both in Omaha and via the Catholic Charities network.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, financial institutions, and other stakeholders to secure ongoing funding and resources.

Champion Economic Empowerment

  • Serve as an advocate for individuals striving to establish or expand small businesses, especially in underserved communities.
  • Identify and cultivate new partnerships with businesses, local government agencies, and nonprofit organizations to broaden support networks for clients.
  • Promote public awareness of microbusiness and asset development initiatives, highlighting program successes and participant stories.
  • Transform past participants into an active support community for future entrepreneurs.

Lead and Supervise a Dedicated Team

  • Ensuring operational stability through a reliable pool of instructors and industry-specific mentor volunteers.
  • Coordinate grant activities, data collection, and reporting to ensure compliance and measure outcomes effectively.
  • Foster an environment of continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus.
  • Experience: At least two years of professional experience in microenterprise development, economic empowerment programs, community development, or related areas (preferred).
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated success in supervising or coaching teams, managing programs, and working cross-functionally to achieve goals.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of business planning, financial analysis, and funding mechanisms.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to foster positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Commitment: Passionate about serving vulnerable populations with cultural competency and empathy.
  • Language Skills: Bilingual (Spanish/English) is highly preferred.

WHAT YOUR DAY WILL LOOK LIKE

  • Office Collaboration: Work on-site at our local campuses (both 9223 Bedford Ave and 5211 S 31st).
  • Program Management: Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of microbusiness and asset development initiatives.
  • Community Outreach: Schedule and conduct group workshops, networking events, and additional classes. Some evenings or weekends may be required to meet community needs.
  • Continuous Improvement: Review and refine program strategies based on data, participant feedback, and community input.
  • Impactful Work: Engage directly with aspiring entrepreneurs, helping them secure capital, develop effective business plans, and grow their ventures.

WHY JOIN CATHOLIC CHARITIES?

  • Competitive Compensation: Earn a salary that reflects your expertise and dedication.
  • Comprehensive Healthcare: Access to health, dental, and vision insurance to support your well-being.
  • Work-Life Balance: Enjoy paid time off, recognized holidays, and retirement benefits to support your future.
  • Growth & Development: Take advantage of professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and advance your career.
  • Mission-Driven Work Environment: Be part of a team that is changing lives and making a real impact in the community every day.

This is more than a job—it’s a calling. At Catholic Charities, you’ll work in a supportive, mission-driven environment where your expertise and dedication will help individuals and families achieve financial independence, stability, and hope for the future. If you are passionate and ready to be part of a movement that fosters economic empowerment, we invite you to apply today.
