What they need
OrganisationalOverview:
Come Out Of Hiding (COOH) is a Christian, community-rooted organisation (serving communities of same faith, all faiths and no faith) committed to nurturing, equipping and empowering young people and families from underserved communities. Our work focuses on wellbeing, employability, leadership development and community engagement, underpinned by strong safeguarding practice and Christian values.
Position Overview:
The Programme Delivery Officer is responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging and safe sessions across COOH’s programmes, supporting children, young people, adults and families from underserved communities. Building on the current emphasis on session delivery, relationship-building and safeguarding, this updated role combines frontline programme delivery with community engagement, networking and external representation.
The Programme Delivery Officer provides dependable, hands-on delivery across COOH's community, youth, family, wellbeing, employability, food-support and hospital inreach programmes. The post combines direct facilitation with preparation, safeguarding, participant support and timely programme reporting.
We are looking for someone with strong experience in youth, adults, family, safeguarding, or community-based programme delivery who is confident working directly with a wide range of participants and able to build positive relationships with families, community members, partners and stakeholders.
The post-holder will play an active role in delivering sessions, supporting wellbeing and participation, maintaining professional standards, and representing COOH positively at partner meetings, community events and networking opportunities as the organisation continues to grow its reach and partnerships.
Availability is required for Tuesday evenings, Thursdays and Saturdays. During the school holiday period extended, all-day and evening delivery on Thursdays and Fridays. COOH will issue the rota in advance. Contracted hours may be reallocated across the week; any hours above 15 must be authorised in advance and will be paid. Part-time fixed-term employment from October to December 2026, initially for three months. Any extension is subject to continued funding, satisfactory performance and organisational need; it is not guaranteed.
Key responsibilities
Programme preparation and delivery
- Prepare and facilitate engaging, age-appropriate and inclusive sessions in line with agreed plans, funded outputs and participant needs.
- Set up and close down venues, equipment, refreshments, activity materials and digital resources safely and on time.
- Welcome participants, explain activities clearly and create an environment in which people feel known, respected and able to participate.
- Adapt delivery appropriately for different ages, abilities, cultural backgrounds and support needs while remaining within the role's competence and approved programme plan.
- Support trips, employer visits, community events, holiday activities, food provision and practical wellbeing activities as rostered.
Safeguarding health and safety
- Follow COOH's safeguarding, child-protection, adults-at-risk, Prevent, lone-working, health-and-safety and incident-reporting procedures at all times.
- Maintain the minimum two-team-member requirement for sessions and never accept sole responsibility where the approved staffing level or ratio is not met.
- Recognise concerns, respond calmly to disclosures, record facts accurately and report immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead or session supervisor.
- Complete dynamic risk checks and follow approved risk assessments, consent arrangements, emergency procedures and venue requirements.
- Work within professional boundaries and do not provide clinical, therapeutic, legal, benefits or energy advice beyond approved training and referral guidance.
Participant support and partnerships
- Build positive and boundaried relationships with children, young people, parents, carers, adults, service users and community partners.
- Support registrations, attendance, warm referrals and signposting using approved COOH pathways and resources.
- Communicate respectfully with venues, schools, hospitals, housing partners, employers and other delivery partners when authorised.
- Support participant voice through feedback forms, conversations, forums and co-design activities without pressuring anyone to disclose personal information.
Administration monitoring and teamwork
- Complete registers, session reports, incident records, outcome information and handovers accurately within the required deadlines, normally within 24 hours of delivery.
- Contribute to funder monitoring by recording attendance, participation, referrals, feedback, case-study consent and agreed programme outcomes.
- Attend Tuesday online planning, training, supervision and team meetings and contribute constructively to continuous improvement.
- Use COOH accounts, devices and systems responsibly and protect personal information in line with UK GDPR, confidentiality and records-retention requirements.
- Complete planning, preparation, reporting, training, meetings and supervision within allocated paid hours. Additional hours must not be worked or claimed unless approved in advance.
- Support volunteers, interns and sessional colleagues with agreed session tasks while escalating performance, conduct or safeguarding concerns to the responsible manager.

- Clear written and verbal communication, accurate record keeping and basic competence with Microsoft 365 or similar systems.
- Ability to travel between COOH and partner venues across South East London and to work occasional evenings and extended holiday days.
- Commitment to equality, inclusion, confidentiality, teamwork and COOH's community-rooted ethos.
