What they need
PROGRAMME LEAD TUTOR - TAUMATA AKE
Springboard Community Works | Dome Valley, Warkworth | Full-time
Help us bring a brand-new pathway for rangatahi to life.
Springboard is seeking an exceptional Programme Lead Tutor to establish and lead Taumata Ake, our new 26-week employment, education and training programme for rangatahi aged 15-24 who have become disconnected from school, training or work. This is not a traditional classroom role. It combines trusted relationships, structured learning, practical experiences, work readiness, qualifications, driver licensing support and individual pathway planning.
About the Role
You will lead cohorts of approximately 12-15 rangatahi through a practical, strengths-based programme delivered primarily Tuesday to Thursday, 9.00am-3.30pm, from Springboard's Dome Valley site. You will create a culture of belonging, high expectations and real progress, while working closely with our wellbeing team, practical trainers, employers, training providers and whanau.
About you
You're practical, grounded, and able to build trust while holding accountability. You understand that meaningful change takes consistency and genuine relationships.
You will:
- Plan and facilitate engaging group learning, practical activities and pathway development.
- Build trusted relationships while maintaining clear boundaries, structure and accountability.
- Develop and review Individual Pathway Plans covering strengths, barriers, goals and next steps.
- Support literacy, numeracy, life skills, CVs, interviews, applications and work readiness.
- Coordinate work experience, industry visits, qualifications and employer or training connections.
- Track attendance, progress, milestones, case notes and programme outcomes accurately.
Who we are looking for
You may come from teaching, alternative education, youth development, employment preparation, trades training or social services. More important than one particular qualification is your ability to engage young people who may not have experienced success in traditional settings.
Experience teaching, training, mentoring or coaching rangatahi, including those facing complex barriers.
Strong facilitation, behaviour-management, planning and relationship-building skills.
A practical, culturally responsive and trauma-aware approach that combines warmth with challenge.
Confidence working across classroom, workshop, farm, cafe, community and workplace environments.
Strong organisation, communication and record-keeping skills.
About Springboard

Requirements
- Full, clean New Zealand driver's licence.
- Currently living in New Zealand.
- Full working rights with no restrictions.
- Ability to meet Children's Act safety checking and vetting requirements.
Please send your CV and a cover letter explaining why this kaupapa connects with you and how you have helped reluctant or disconnected young people engage and succeed.
