What they need
Role Overview
We are seeking a commercially sharp, execution-focused Programme Manager, Global Consolidation to build and own Pattern's global consolidation network — the connective infrastructure that moves goods from major manufacturing hubs into Pattern-owned warehouses and directly into marketplace warehouses (e.g., Amazon FBA) around the world. This role owns the development and success on this consolidation from 0-1, and is the single point of accountability for associated carrier economics, customs compliance, and consolidation partnerships across every country in scope. Additionally, you will also facilitate APAC regional transportation for the consolidation to achieve best efficiency, ensuring the region's inbound and outbound execution. You will report to the VP, Global Supply Chain, based at Pattern's headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah, and be required to maintain regular connection with US-based teams.
Core Mandate
- Build and scale global consolidation lanes connecting major manufacturing hubs to Pattern-owned warehouses and directly to marketplace warehouses
- Own the import/export process and procedures, country by country, ensuring full compliance everywhere Pattern ships
- Negotiate with carriers and consolidation partners to drive down landed freight cost at scale
- Own consolidation-company relationships in every region to build shared shipping containers across brands
- Oversee APAC regional transportation execution
Key Responsibilities
- Global Shipping Lane & Network Development
- Design and build global shipping lanes connecting major manufacturing hubs (China, Southeast Asia, and others as sourcing expands) to Pattern-owned warehouses and directly into marketplace warehouses
- Partner with NA and EMEA transportation leaders to ensure lane design supports both Pattern-warehouse and direct-to-marketplace flows
- Continuously evaluate lane performance — cost, transit time, reliability — and re-route or renegotiate as conditions change
- Build the long-term roadmap for lane expansion as new manufacturing origins and marketplace destinations come online
- Carrier Negotiation & Cost Management
- Own carrier relationships and lead contract negotiations across ocean, air, and intermodal modes for all consolidation lanes
- Build and track KPIs on freight cost per unit/container, on-time performance, and claims
- Run a competitive bid/RFP process on a regular cadence to continuously test market rates
- Partner with Finance to forecast and manage the global consolidation cost base
- Import/Export Process Ownership, Policy setup, SOP, and performance metrics
- Own the import process and procedures within each country of operation, ensuring compliance with all customs, trade, and regulatory requirements
- Build standardized, documented import/export procedures that scale cleanly as Pattern enters new countries
- Partner with legal/trade compliance to stay ahead of tariff and regulatory change affecting cross-border flows
- Own customs broker relationships and performance in every market
- Consolidation Partnerships
- Own relationships with consolidation companies (CFS/groupage providers) in each region
- Build shared-container and shared-shipment programs across brands to unlock cost efficiency at lower individual volumes
- Negotiate consolidation terms and monitor partner service levels
- Identify, qualify, and onboard new consolidation partners as volume and geographic scope grow
- APAC Regional Transportation Oversight
- Oversee APAC inbound and outbound transportation execution in partnership with in-region teams
- Build and scale APAC-based execution teams as regional volume grows
- Ensure APAC transportation decisions are made in the context of the broader global consolidation network
- Cross-Functional Partnership & System
- Partner with Supply Chain, Inventory Management, and regional business leaders to align consolidation strategy with broader company goals
- Influence the selection and rollout of transportation management systems (TMS) to support end-to-end visibility across consolidated lanes
- Partner with engineering/tech teams to identify automation opportunities in customs documentation and lane management
Qualifications
- Fluency in written and spoken English is a requirement
- 10–15+ years of experience in freight forwarding, or domestic transportation, with direct ownership of international consolidation or cross-border freight
- Proven track record negotiating FCL/LCL/air freight as well as warehouse consolidation and transportation (FTL/LTL/milkrun) contracts at scale
- Deep knowledge of import/export compliance, customs process, and trade regulation across multiple countries, particularly APAC–North America trade lanes
- Experience managing consolidation warehouse/CFS partner relationships
- Demonstrated ability to build and scale logistics operations across multiple countries
Preferred Experience
- Experience specifically in China-to-US or broader APAC-to-US import/export flows
- Background in freight forwarding, 3PL, or NVOCC environments
- Experience building shared-container or consolidation programs spanning multiple brands or business units
- Familiarity with TMS or customs-management systems
- Multilingual (Mandarin a strong plus)
Key Competencies
- Skilled negotiator with strong commercial instincts
- Deep systems and process orientation — builds scalable, repeatable procedures rather than one-off fixes
- Comfortable operating across many countries and regulatory environments simultaneously
- High ownership and accountability
- Strong cross-functional collaborator
Success Metrics (First 12–24 Months)
- Global consolidation lane network stood up, connecting key manufacturing hubs to Pattern and marketplace warehouses
- Measurable reduction in per-unit/per-container freight cost through carrier and consolidator negotiation
- Standardized, documented import/export procedures live in every country of operation
- Shared-container consolidation programs launched across multiple brands
- APAC transportation operations scaling smoothly alongside regional growth
Why This Role Matters
This role builds the connective infrastructure underneath Pattern's entire global supply chain — every unit that crosses a border and isn't shipped direct-to-consumer runs through the network this person builds. Get the lanes, the carrier economics, and the consolidation partnerships right, and it becomes a durable cost and speed advantage as Pattern scales into new markets and sourcing regions.
