Are you passionate about helping young people succeed? Join our Computing Department and play a vital role in supporting students to achieve their goals, overcome challenges, and progress into higher education or digital careers.

As a Progress Coach, you'll provide one-to-one and group support, monitoring student attendance, wellbeing and progress while working closely with teaching staff and support services to ensure every learner reaches their potential. You'll help students develop the personal, study and employability skills needed for success both in college and beyond.

This would be supporting students from L1 to L3.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the delivery of employability skills development.
  • Maintaining accurate records and contributing to reporting processes as required.
  • Conducting regular 1:1 progress reviews with students to set goals and identify support needs.
  • Supporting and mentoring a caseload of Computing students.
  • Monitoring attendance, progress and engagement, implementing interventions where needed.
  • Helping learners overcome barriers to achievement.
  • Delivering personal development activities and progression support.
  • Working collaboratively with curriculum and student support teams.

We're looking for someone with:

  • A Level 4 qualification or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to motivate and support young people.
  • Strong IT skills and an understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to students' lives while supporting the next generation of digital talent.

  • Abingdon and Witney College reserve the right to close all applications before posted closing date.

AWC values diversity and encourages applications from all sections of the community. We are committed to safeguarding and expect all our employees and volunteers to share this commitment. We are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and all appointments are subject to satisfactory clearances including enhanced DBS checks.

Abingdon and Witney College are committed to safer recruitment practices. In addition to our pre-employment checks, we will conduct an online search. This includes checking Google main results feed as well as the ‘News’ and ‘Images’ tab. We will be checking for any publicly available information that suggests the applicant may not be suitable to work with children or young/vulnerable people or content that could potentially damage Abingdon and Witney College’s reputation. This may include inappropriate posts, comments or images displaying evidence of offensive or inappropriate behaviour, jokes or language, discriminatory comments, inappropriate photos, drug or alcohol misuse.
