Progress OpenEdge Developer – ABL & PASOE (Ghent, Hybrid)

A Belgian company active in the HR and business-services sector is strengthening its IT team with an experienced Progress OpenEdge Developer to maintain, modernize and extend its business-critical applications.

In this role, you bridge classic ABL development with modern, API-driven architecture (PASOE). You work closely with analysts, project managers and end users, alongside a team of fellow Progress experts.

What does a typical week look like? You develop and maintain applications in ABL (Advanced Business Language), design and optimize OpenEdge database access, build and expose APIs through OpenEdge Studio, analyze and improve performance (queries, locking, transactions) and handle integrations with internal and external systems.

1) Strong, proven experience with Progress OpenEdge / ABL (Advanced Business Language) | 2) Solid understanding of temp-tables, datasets and buffers | 3) Strong grasp of transactions and locking (NO-LOCK, SHARE-LOCK, EXCLUSIVE-LOCK) | 4) Experience with OpenEdge database design and performance tuning | 5) Hands-on experience with PASOE (Progress Application Server) and API development | 6) Nice to have: .NET, modern IDEs (Progress Developer Studio / PDSOE), APIDOG | 7) Analytical, structured and detail-oriented, with strong communication and team-collaboration skills; Dutch or French at native/bilingual level
