Project Accountant

John T. Jones Construction Co. is seeking a full-time Payroll, AP & Job Cost Accounting Specialist. We are a medium-sized General Contracting Firm specializing in Water/ Wastewater Construction.

Responsibilities:

• Payroll, Accounts Payable, Job Costing/Equipment
• Process payroll for 50+ employees weekly, including payments for garnishments, child support obligations, payroll tax deposit
• Process accounts payable from invoice to payment
• Assist in administering and maintaining employee records and benefits policies.
• Reconciliation of Vendor statements and Customer payments
• Maintain payment files and invoice files
• Responsible for the assembling, processing, reviewing and submission of applications for payment for multiple projects
• Lien waiver maintenance
• Job cost tracking, analysis and reporting
• Process budget changes and maintain project files in orderly, organized manner.
• Communicate with Project Managers and senior management on all aspects of construction accounting.
• Track and monitor tools, vehicles, and equipment locations
• Maintain records of miles/hours on vehicles and equipment to assist in maintenance planning
• Perform/review bank account and petty cash reconciliations
• Process withholding and sales tax returns
• Assist with general office duties as required

Skills/Education:

• 2-5 years in a related position, construction industry a plus
• High School Diploma, 2-year degree preferred but not required
• Competent with computers & exposure to accounting software
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel , Word & Outlook
