Project Accountant

Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our team and drive excellence in financial management for our diverse portfolio of projects. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing project-specific financial activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and providing accurate financial reporting. Your expertise will support project teams in maintaining fiscal integrity, optimizing budget performance, and adhering to industry standards such as GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Duties

· Set up original and analyze job budget estimates throughout the project

· Review, enter and process subcontractor change orders, ensuring that contract agreements are being returned by subcontractor

· Process owners change orders and create the entire billings package

· Issue all subcontracts and purchase orders for assigned projects, ensuring all documents are in compliance with company regulations

· Enter or monitor subcontract and purchase order invoices related to assigned projects, researching and resolving discrepancies as needed

· Perform job cost analysis monthly

· Prepare journal entries and job cost entries as required

· Prepare job projections throughout the project and monitor profit fade/gain and revenue recognized on the projects/review with PM

· Communicate with owners on a professional level

· Monitor and follow-up on open project costs and billings

· Attend weekly/monthly accounting meetings and owner meetings as needed.

· Communicate with Project Managers (PM) regarding contract documents, amendments, approvals, and any additional services related to billing

· Provide support to the Project team and ensure financial information accuracy for project reporting

· Direct financial communication with the project team as needed

· Research any unbilled issues to optimize the billing amounts for the billing period

· Ensure proper project costing monthly

· Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent construction experience
• In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, being well-versed in GAAP
• Hands-on experience in project accounting, preferable in construction
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Excellent Excel skills and high proficiency in Word and Outlook
• Experience with Vista a plus
• Strong analytical and organizational abilities, and technology competencies required
• High level of personal and professional integrity
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, take initiative, set priorities, and follow through
• Creative thinker with proven ability to spot issues or inefficiencies
• Advanced problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects at one time and respond to changing priorities

Pay: $65,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
