Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Accountant to support a general construction team managing large-scale projects valued at $150 million or more. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional with a strong background in general construction project accounting, subcontractor billing, job costing, and compliance.

The Project Accountant will oversee accounting functions for assigned projects, including client invoicing, vendor payments, subcontractor billing, and the preparation of complex Schedules of Values (SOVs) using AIA G702/G703 documentation. The successful candidate will work closely with project teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, timely processing, and compliance with project requirements.

Occasional travel to project sites for job review meetings may be required. This position reports directly to the Senior Project Accountant.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting functions for assigned construction projects.
• Process vendor invoices accurately and within established deadlines, ensuring alignment with commitments, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
• Review and process subcontractor invoices using AIA G702/G703 forms and complex Schedules of Values with multiple cost codes.
• Prepare and enter owner billings into Timberline.
• Manage client invoicing, vendor payments, and subcontractor billing activities.
• Collect, review, and track required compliance documentation.
• Generate and maintain reports, including labor, contract status, and job cost reports.
• Modify job cost reports as needed to support project financial tracking and reporting.
• Serve as a resource for project teams regarding accounting procedures, billing, and compliance requirements.
• Ensure adherence to project-specific accounting and compliance standards.
• Perform additional accounting and project-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a General Construction Project Accountant or Bookkeeper .
• Direct experience in general construction project accounting is required . This is a specialized project accounting position, not a general staff accounting role.
• Proficiency in accounts payable, accounts receivable, vendor payments, and data entry within a construction job-cost environment.
• Experience working with job costs, subcontracts, purchase orders, and construction billing processes.
• Strong understanding of subcontractor invoicing, AIA billing documentation, and project compliance requirements.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams.
• Demonstrated dependability, initiative, attention to detail, and a team-oriented approach.

Technical Skills

• AIA G702/G703 billing documentation and Schedules of Values (SOVs).
• Microsoft Office, including Excel.
• Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate (Timberline).
• Procore.
• Advanced data entry, 10-key by touch, and typing skills.
