Project Accountant (EL)

We are looking for an entry-level Project Accountant to support the financial management of construction-related projects in Charlotte, North Carolina. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with numbers, collaborating with project teams, and helping maintain accurate project cost records. The position offers an opportunity to build hands-on experience in project and construction accounting while contributing to timely reporting and billing activities.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with tracking project budgets, costs, and financial performance across active construction assignments.

• Prepare and maintain project-related invoices, payment applications, and supporting documentation to ensure accurate billing.

• Review job cost data and help reconcile expenses, subcontractor charges, and committed costs within accounting records.

• Partner with project managers and operations teams to monitor contract values, change orders, and revenue details.

• Update financial information in CMiC and help keep project accounting records organized, current, and audit-ready.

• Support month-end close activities by compiling reports, verifying transactions, and resolving routine discrepancies.

• Help maintain compliance with internal controls and standard accounting procedures related to construction projects.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business discipline, or equivalent entry-level accounting experience.

• Foundational knowledge of project accounting principles and financial reporting concepts.

• Exposure to construction accounting practices, including job cost tracking and project billing.

• Experience using CMiC or the ability to learn construction accounting software quickly.

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and maintain accurate records.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other standard business applications.

• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with project and accounting teams.
