Project Accountant (EPC/EPCM)

About the company

Our client is an established engineering firm delivering EPC and EPCM projects for high-tech and process facilities in Singapore and overseas. With a growing project pipeline, they're strengthening their finance team with a dedicated Project Accountant.

The role

You'll be the finance partner for the company's projects, working closely with project managers, the commercial team and procurement to keep project costs, revenue, billing and cash flow on track from start to finish.

Key responsibilities

• Set up project financials: contract value, budgets, work breakdown structures and cost codes
• Track actual costs, purchase orders and subcontract commitments against budget
• Work with project managers on monthly cost-to-complete (ETC) and final cost (EAC) forecasts, flagging overruns and margin risks early
• Coordinate progress billing and monitor WIP, unbilled revenue and receivables
• Support project revenue recognition in line with accounting policies
• Track variation orders, claims and extensions of time, and reflect approved changes in budgets and forecasts
• Prepare monthly project P&L, budget-vs-actual analysis and project dashboards
• Forecast project cash flow and follow up on retentions and overdue payments
• Handle month-end accruals and reconciliations, and present findings at project reviews
• Support audits and complete the financial close-out of projects

Requirements

• Degree in Accountancy, Finance or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years of finance or project accounting experience, including hands-on work in an EPC, EPCM, engineering or construction project environment
• Strong in project costing, budgeting, forecasting, WIP and revenue recognition
• Comfortable engaging engineers, project managers and commercial stakeholders
• Strong Excel and reporting skills
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision

Good to have

• Experience with semiconductor, cleanroom, pharmaceutical or other high-tech facility projects
• Experience with multi-country or multi-currency projects
• ACCA, CIMA or CA qualification
• Audit background
• Experience with IFS, SAP or another project-based ERP
