Company description:

The Metcash story began from the humble origins of our first family-owned corner store in 1927. And for almost 100 years since then, we've been backing independents and strengthening the communities we operate in.

Today, Metcash (ASX: MTS) is Australia and New Zealand's leading independent retail partner and wholesaler in the food, liquor, hardware, and tools industries, with sales of $19.5 billion in FY25. We provide our network with marketing, purchasing, warehousing, distribution and systems support

Job description:

Why you'll love this role
Metcash is growing fast — in size, ambition and appetite for change — and as our workforce and operations continue to scale, we're investing in stronger, simpler and more future-ready People & Culture foundations.

Within this evolving landscape, we have an opportunity for a Project & Change Manager (People Systems) to play a key role in delivering enterprise-wide initiatives across HR systems, payroll, people data and operational change.

Extra reasons to join us
🌿 Flexibility & balance: Family Friendly accredited employer + hybrid working options
🌟 More time for you: 5th week leave, wellbeing + volunteer days
📚 Grow your career: Ongoing learning and development support
🤝 Inclusive & supportive: LGBTQ+ Bronze & Mental Health Gold employer

What you'll do

  • Plan and deliver project activities, ensuring milestones, risks and dependencies are effectively managed.
  • Build strong relationships across business and technology teams to drive stakeholder alignment and engagement.
  • Lead change management activities, including communications, training and adoption support.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to manage risks, resolve issues and drive decision making.
  • Support the implementation of HR technology and process improvements that deliver measurable business outcomes

What you'll bring

  • Experience delivering systems initiatives (experience with SuccessFactors is highly regarded)
  • Experience with change management activities
  • Experience working across business and technology teams
  • Significant exposure to People and Culture processes and activities or preferably background in HR
  • Ability to operate within a structured project governance while also working with ambiguity and changing environments

Be part of something bigger

Backing local brilliance is at the heart of what we do. As Australia's leading wholesale distribution company, Metcash proudly supports independent retailers behind iconic brands such as IGA, Foodland, Mitre 10, Total Tools, Cellarbrations and The Bottle O — fuelling an unstoppable network of independents across Australia.
No agencies please, this role is being managed by our internal Talent Acquisition team.
