What they need

About the Role

Everything Knoxville Handyman & Remodeling is hiring an experienced Project & Field Operations Manager to take ownership of our day-to-day production operations.

This is not a desk-only project management position, and it is not an office coordinator role. We need a highly capable, hands-on leader who can manage projects, direct technicians, communicate with customers, solve problems in the field, build operating systems, and step in as a technician when necessary.

The right person will serve as the operational second-in-command and help ensure every sold job is properly planned, staffed, completed, documented, and closed out.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of projects from approval through final completion and closeout
  • Review sold scopes and identify missing details, risks, materials, labor needs, and scheduling requirements
  • Build production plans and assign the correct technicians to each project
  • Coordinate technicians, subcontractors, materials, deliveries, equipment, and customer access
  • Conduct jobsite assessments and create detailed scopes, labor plans, and material lists
  • Maintain daily communication with technicians and customers
  • Monitor project progress, labor hours, material spending, schedules, and profitability
  • Visit active jobsites to provide direction, solve problems, and perform quality-control inspections
  • Handle unexpected field conditions, customer concerns, technician callouts, and scheduling conflicts
  • Document changes and ensure change orders are approved before additional work proceeds
  • Confirm that photos, notes, receipts, selections, and project records are properly entered into company systems
  • Perform final walkthroughs and ensure punch-list items are completed
  • Help recruit, train, coach, and hold field technicians accountable
  • Create, document, improve, and enforce company standard operating procedures
  • Help improve scheduling, job costing, quality control, technician performance, and overall operational efficiency
  • Step into the field and perform hands-on work when a technician is absent or when a project needs additional support
  • Keep the owner informed without requiring the owner to personally manage every routine decision

Required Experience and Skills

  • Previous professional experience as a project manager, field operations manager, construction manager, or similar leadership position
  • Strong working knowledge across multiple residential and light-commercial trades
  • Ability to evaluate unfamiliar situations, identify risks, and develop practical solutions
  • Hands-on ability in several areas such as carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring, doors, trim, basic plumbing, basic electrical, decks, siding, repairs, and remodeling
  • Capable of filling in for a field technician and producing professional-quality work
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Strong customer-service and conflict-resolution skills
  • Highly proficient with computers, smartphones, email, spreadsheets, cloud documents, photos, scheduling platforms, and project-management software
  • Able to learn and consistently use Jobber and other company systems
  • Strong organization, follow-through, time-management, and documentation habits
  • Ability to write clear scopes of work, material lists, job instructions, change orders, and SOPs
  • Comfortable holding technicians accountable and addressing performance problems directly
  • Able to manage multiple active projects without losing important details
  • Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record
  • Able to safely perform the physical requirements of field work
  • Dependable transportation and reliable attendance

What Success Looks Like

  • Technicians know exactly where to go, what to do, and what materials they need
  • Customers receive consistent and professional communication
  • Projects stay on schedule and within the planned labor and material budget
  • Problems are identified and handled before they become emergencies
  • Change orders are properly documented and approved
  • Jobs are inspected, completed correctly, and closed out promptly
  • Company systems and SOPs are followed consistently
  • The owner is no longer required to personally coordinate every job, technician, material decision, and field issue

Work Environment and Standards

Everything Knoxville Handyman & Remodeling maintains a professional, accountable, and drug-free workplace. Employees must arrive ready to work, communicate honestly, protect customer property, follow safety requirements, and represent the company professionally.

Employment may be contingent upon a background check, driving-record review, reference verification, and drug screening as permitted by applicable law.

This position may occasionally require early starts, later jobsite visits, schedule adjustments, or additional field involvement when projects or staffing require it.

Who Should Apply

Apply if you are an experienced operator who can lead people, understand construction, solve problems, use technology, communicate professionally, and take complete ownership of results.

Do not apply if you are looking for a desk-only position, need constant supervision, avoid difficult conversations, cannot perform field work, or struggle to keep projects organized.

To apply, submit your résumé and a brief explanation of:

  • Your previous project-management or construction-operations experience
  • The trades in which you have hands-on experience
  • The largest team or project load you have managed
  • The software and project-management systems you have used
  • An example of a difficult project or field problem you successfully resolved
