What they need
Woodmans Architecture & Interiors are looking to recruit a Project Architect to lead and coordinate the design and delivery of private residential projects.
Woodmans is a multidisciplinary business bringing together Architecture & Interiors, Civil & Structural Engineering, Construction & Development, Mechanical & Electrical, and Bespoke Joinery. This integrated approach means our teams work closely together from initial design through to construction and completion.
The Project Architect will manage projects through all RIBA stages, working closely with clients, consultants, contractors and internal teams. The role requires strong technical knowledge, design capability and project management skills, including the ability to oversee technical packages and coordinate multidisciplinary input throughout the project lifecycle.
Exposure to, and collaboration with, the disciplines across Woodmans is an essential part of the role. You will need to understand how their requirements influence architectural design and delivery, involve the relevant teams at the appropriate stages, and work together to resolve design and construction challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage private residential projects independently through all RIBA stages.
- Develop and coordinate designs, technical packages and project deliverables.
- Collaborate with colleagues across all five Woodmans disciplines to produce coordinated, practical and buildable designs.
- Coordinate external consultants and the wider design team.
- Act as a key client contact, communicating clearly and maintaining strong working relationships.
- Work closely with technicians and architectural assistants, providing direction and supporting their development.
- Undertake contract administration and support projects through construction and completion.
Requirements
- Relevant UK project experience.
- Experience across all RIBA stages and in contract administration.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams, with exposure to the relationship between architecture, interiors, construction, building services, joinery and structural engineering.
- Willingness to develop your understanding of each Woodmans discipline and collaborate actively with its team.
- Ability to lead projects independently and manage competing priorities.
- Strong client-facing and communication skills.
- A proactive approach to supporting colleagues and solving problems.
- An approachable, personable and collaborative manner.
- Willingness to learn and develop.
- The right to work in the UK.
Software Requirements
- AutoCAD: Experienced, with examples demonstrating work across project stages.
- Microsoft Office, including Outlook: Experienced.
- Adobe InDesign: Experienced, with examples of reports demonstrating your ability.
- Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator: Experienced.
