About CAMP Asia

CAMP Asia is an international development NGO that works with communities to develop sustainable and viable solutions through integrated development projects.

  • Mission: A Healthy and Inclusive World Free from Poverty
  • Core Value: Changing the World through Sharing and Serving
  • Vision: Sustainable Communities through an Integrated and Human Rights-Based Approach

CAMP Asia is working with farmers, cooperatives, social enterprises, government agencies, universities, and private-sector partners to strengthen community-based businesses and expand market opportunities for locally produced goods.

As part of this initiative, CAMP Asia plans to develop a cooperative and social enterprise retail brand and establish a physical market outlet featuring agricultural products and other community-based products.

About the Role

The Business Development & Marketing Associate will work alongside the team to support market research, business planning, launch preparations, marketing, and day-to-day coordination.

This is a hands-on support role. The Associate will gather and organize market information, coordinate with producers and partners, assist with administrative and operational preparations, and help carry out activities in the field. The role offers an opportunity to contribute practical business and retail experience while working closely with CAMP Asia’s team, farmers, cooperatives, suppliers, and buyers.

Key Responsibilities

Business Planning and Outlet Launch

  • Gather information on potential customers, competitors, locations, products, and pricing to inform the team’s business decisions.
  • Support feasibility assessments and the preparation of the outlet’s business plan, launch schedule, and operating budget.
  • Assist with practical preparations for the outlet, such as sourcing suppliers, comparing quotations, coordinating equipment and space requirements, and preparing documents for permits and other administrative processes.
  • Help establish basic procedures for purchasing, inventory, sales recording, product display, and customer service.
  • Support opening activities and initial operations, and collect customer and sales feedback for the team’s review.

Marketing and Market Development

  • Develop the brand’s positioning, key messages, promotional plan, and product stories.
  • Prepare or coordinate product information, social media content, promotional materials, store displays, and launch activities.
  • Identify and approach potential buyers, distributors, institutional customers, and other sales partners.
  • Explore additional channels such as online sales, pop-up markets, institutional sales, and domestic or export markets where feasible.
  • Track market feedback, sales, costs, and margins to recommend practical improvements.

Administration and Reporting

  • Keep organized records of market research, supplier contacts, quotations, purchases, inventory, sales, meetings, and activities.
  • Assist with expense tracking, basic cost and margin analysis, and documentation required under CAMP Asia’s procedures.
  • Prepare regular progress updates and report issues that require the project team’s review or decision.
  • Support other related business development and marketing activities assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Required

  • A bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Business Administration, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Economics, Development Studies, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Practical experience in at least one of the following: business development, retail or café operations, store preparation, product marketing, sales, or enterprise development.
  • Ability to conduct market research, organize findings, and contribute to practical plans and recommendations.
  • Basic understanding of product costing, pricing, sales margins, and business records.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work with community members, suppliers, buyers, and institutional partners.
  • Ability to manage assigned tasks independently while working within the project team’s plans and decisions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and Cebuano.

Preferred

  • Experience opening or operating a retail store, café, or other customer-facing business.
  • Experience with cooperatives, social enterprises, agricultural products, or community-based businesses.
  • Experience in product sourcing, supplier coordination, inventory, merchandising, or digital marketing.
  • Familiarity with sustainable or eco-friendly products and agricultural value chains.
  • Exposure to institutional sales, distribution, or export market development.
  • Familiarity with Canva, point-of-sale systems, or inventory tools.
  • A valid driver’s license.

What You’ll Gain

  • Direct experience in developing and launching a community-based retail business.
  • Opportunities to work with farmers, cooperatives, social enterprises, local producers, and market partners.
  • Professional development and capacity-building opportunities relevant to the role.
  • Performance-based incentives upon evaluation, subject to organizational guidelines.
