What they need
Are you an organised, technically minded Project Coordinator who enjoys being involved in projects from the office through to the workshop and out on site?
We’re working with an established Auckland-based engineering and fabrication business looking for a Project Coordinator to become a key link between its clients, office, workshop and project teams.
This is a hands-on role with plenty of variety. You’ll coordinate projects, manage the flow of information, keep timelines on track and ensure the workshop has the right information to deliver. You’ll also get out to construction sites to assist with site measures, helping ensure accurate information is captured for fabrication and delivery.
We’re looking for someone who takes ownership, communicates well and is comfortable following things up to keep projects moving.
The role
Working closely with clients, management and the workshop team, you'll be responsible for:
- Coordinating projects from initial engagement through to delivery
- Acting as a key point of contact for clients throughout their projects
- Managing project timelines, priorities and outstanding actions
- Coordinating communication between clients, the office, workshop and site
- Reviewing and interpreting architectural and construction drawings
- Attending construction sites to assist with completing site measures and gathering information required for fabrication
- Ensuring site measurements, drawings, specifications and other project information are accurately communicated to the workshop
- Following up internal teams to ensure agreed dates and project requirements are met
- Keeping clients informed of progress and responding to project queries
- Identifying missing information, potential delays or issues before they impact delivery
- Working with the wider team to resolve issues and escalating where required
- Helping ensure projects move efficiently through the business from initial coordination to final delivery.
About you
You may already be working as a Project Coordinator, Project Administrator, Construction Coordinator or Junior Project Manager, or you could be working within a construction or engineering environment and looking for an opportunity to take on greater responsibility.
Ideally, you'll bring:
- Previous project coordination, project administration or similar experience
- Experience within construction, engineering, fabrication or a related environment
- The ability to read and interpret architectural and construction drawings
- Confidence getting out on site and assisting with measurements
- Strong organisation and the ability to manage multiple projects at once
- Confidence communicating directly with clients, site teams and trades
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- The confidence to follow people up and keep actions moving
- Excellent attention to detail
- A practical, solutions-focused mindset
- The ability to work autonomously and take ownership of your responsibilities.
Why consider this opportunity?
This is not a desk-bound Project Coordinator position.
You'll have visibility across the project lifecycle and work directly with the people delivering the work. Your week will include a mixture of office-based project coordination, working alongside the workshop and getting out to construction sites to assist with measures and project requirements.
For someone who enjoys construction but doesn't want to spend every day sitting behind a computer, it offers a great balance between coordination, technical involvement, client interaction and site exposure.
You'll also be joining a business that is looking to grow. As project volumes and responsibilities increase, there is genuine scope for the role to develop and for the successful person to take on greater responsibility over time.
Salary
A salary in the region of $70,000–$90,000 is available depending on experience, with scope for growth as the role and business develop.
If you're proactive, organised and technically minded and enjoy being the person who keeps projects moving, we'd like to hear from you.
