Project (Construction) Director - Denmark

Overview PM Group has a requirement for a Project (Construction) Director for a high-profile pharmaceutical project in Denmark.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction leader with a proven track record in the successful delivery of large-scale pharmaceutical, biotechnology or other highly regulated capital projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading all aspects of construction execution, ensuring the safe, timely and cost-effective delivery of the project while maintaining the highest standards of quality, compliance and operational excellence.

The role requires significant experience in the execution of complex construction projects and the management of large multidisciplinary construction teams operating within fast-paced and highly regulated environments.

This is a senior client-facing position requiring the ability to build trusted relationships, influence key stakeholders and inspire confidence throughout all phases of project delivery.

The Construction Director will have overall accountability for Safety, Quality, Schedule and Cost performance from mobilisation through commissioning support and final handover.

Responsibilities Project Leadership & Delivery

• Assume overall responsibility for the successful delivery of the Construction scope of a major pharmaceutical project in Denmark.
• Lead all site construction activities from mobilisation through commissioning support and project handover.
• Ensure delivery is achieved safely, on schedule, within budget and to the required quality standards.
• Act as the senior construction leader and primary escalation point for all construction-related matters.

Client, Contractor & Stakeholder Management

• Build and maintain strong relationships with the Client, PM Group project team, General Contractor, Vendors and other key stakeholders.
• Lead construction meetings and provide clear reporting on progress, risks, issues and mitigation plans.
• Drive contractor performance and ensure alignment with project objectives.

Construction Execution & Governance

• Ensure Construction Services delivery complies fully with PM Group systems, procedures and project governance requirements.
• Provide leadership in Construction Health & Safety, QA/QC, Constructability, Contracts & Commercial Management and Project Controls.
• Maintain a visible site presence to proactively identify and resolve delivery challenges.

Pharmaceutical Project Delivery

• Lead construction delivery within a highly regulated pharmaceutical environment, ensuring compliance with GMP and project quality requirements.
• Work closely with Engineering, CQV, Quality and Validation teams to support successful commissioning, qualification and handover.

Team Leadership

• Lead and manage Construction Services personnel, including onboarding, coordination, development and performance management.
• Foster a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement across the project team.

Performance & Continuous Improvement

• Maintain ownership of project performance across Safety, Quality, Schedule and Cost.
• Capture lessons learned and continuously improve construction delivery standards.

Qualifications

• Fluent English required; Danish or another Nordic language would be advantageous.
• Degree qualified in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• 10+ years' experience delivering large-scale Pharmaceutical, Life Sciences or other regulated industrial construction projects.
• Proven track record leading multidisciplinary construction teams on complex capital projects.
• Strong leadership in Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS).
• Experience managing General Contractors, Vendors and key project stakeholders.
• Good understanding of construction contracts, commercial management and project controls.
• Experience working in GMP-regulated environments is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
