PROJECT CONTROLLER

The Project Controller at K&T Construction Group Australasia plays a key role in supporting the successful financial, commercial, and administrative delivery of renewable energy construction projects across New Zealand.

Working closely with Project Managers, Construction Management, Site Management, Finance and Administration teams, the Project Controller is responsible for monitoring project costs, budgets, forecasts, progress and overall project performance. The role ensures accurate and timely reporting while identifying cost variances, financial risks and areas requiring management attention.

Key Responsibilities

Project Setup & Controls

· Establish project folders, registers, reporting systems and document controls.

· Coordinate mobilisation documentation, client requirements and project submissions.

· Maintain project action, procurement, variation and correspondence registers.

· Assist Project Managers with reporting, forecasting and project close-out.

Procurement & Supplier Management

· Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations and prepare purchase comparisons.

· Raise and manage purchase orders and monitor deliveries.

· Maintain supplier relationships, pricing, commercial terms and account requirements.

· Resolve delivery, pricing and invoice discrepancies with suppliers and site teams.

Subcontractor Management

· Coordinate subcontractor onboarding, documentation and compliance.

· Assist with quotation evaluations, scope reviews and subcontract engagement.

· Maintain subcontractor commitments, variations, claims and supporting documentation.

· Monitor outstanding subcontractor deliverables and close-out requirements.

Project Cost & Accounts Support

· Assist with project cost tracking, commitments and financial reporting.

· Verify invoices against purchase orders, delivery records and approved works.

· Coordinate project receipting of materials, plant and subcontract services.

· Assist Finance and Project Managers with accruals, invoice discrepancies and month-end reconciliation.

Project Communications & Compliance

· Maintain formal project correspondence and client submission records.

· Track RFIs, instructions, approvals, variations and outstanding actions.

· Ensure important client instructions and commercial matters are properly documented and escalated.

· Support compliance with contractual communication and document-control requirements.

QA/QC Coordination (where required)

· Maintain QA/QC registers, ITPs, ITCs, NCRs and project quality records.

· Coordinate collection and submission of QA documentation.

· Track outstanding QA items and support project close-out documentation.

· Work with Project Engineers and Site Management on technical quality matters rather than acting as the primary technical QA lead.

Project Close-Out

· Coordinate completion of QA records, warranties, supplier documents and subcontractor documentation.

· Assist with closing purchase orders, variations and outstanding commercial items.

· Compile project handover and Practical Completion documentation.
