The Opportunity

Hunter Philips is supporting a leading international organisation within the energy and infrastructure sector in the appointment of a Project Controls Director.

This senior leadership opportunity offers the chance to influence the strategic direction of Project Controls across a portfolio of complex, high-value engineering and infrastructure programmes throughout Europe.

The successful individual will oversee multidisciplinary Planning and Cost Control teams, driving consistency, strengthening project performance and developing a collaborative, commercially focused Project Controls function.

This is more than a technical Project Controls position. The organisation is seeking an experienced leader capable of influencing senior stakeholders, developing high-performing teams and driving meaningful organisational improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership across multidisciplinary Project Controls teams, covering Planning and Cost Control.
• Lead, develop and mentor Project Controls professionals across multiple locations.
• Drive consistency in project planning, cost management, forecasting, reporting and governance.
• Oversee Project Controls performance across major EPC and energy infrastructure programmes.
• Partner with Engineering, Project Management, Commercial, Finance and Tendering teams to strengthen project delivery.
• Support project mobilisation through the development of effective Project Controls strategies.
• Influence senior stakeholders and drive accountability across complex, multidisciplinary environments.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, organisational development and greater operational efficiency.
• Establish Project Controls as a strategic partner to the wider business, supporting informed commercial and operational decisions.

Experience & Requirements

• Extensive experience in senior Project Controls leadership positions within major EPC, energy or infrastructure environments.
• Strong understanding of complex engineering and infrastructure project delivery.
• Demonstrable experience leading multidisciplinary teams across multiple projects or locations.
• Strong technical knowledge of Primavera P6, cost control, forecasting, governance and project performance reporting.
• Proven ability to lead organisational change and improve Project Controls capability.
• Experience engaging with executive-level stakeholders and influencing decisions across multiple business functions.
• Strong commercial awareness, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A collaborative leadership approach, with the ability to develop people, challenge constructively and drive accountability.
• Experience operating within international or geographically dispersed project environments would be advantageous.
