The Project Controls Specialist will support the financial and operational management of projects, with a primary focus on project financial controls, forecasting, billing support, reporting, and project data accuracy. This position will work closely with Project Managers, Finance, Billing, and senior leadership to ensure projects are properly set up, maintained, and financially monitored throughout their lifecycle.

What You'll Do:

• Perform project setup and maintenance in Deltek Vantagepoint, including project structure, WBS, billing terms, rates, revenue methods, and project status.
• Support project financial management, including forecasting, unbilled revenue, billing, accruals, write-offs, revenue reporting, and month-end activities.
• Review project financial data and identify discrepancies or issues that may impact billing, revenue, or financial reporting.
• Maintain and audit billing rate tables, labor mappings, markups, overrides, and rate trackers.
• Support change order administration, including project financial updates, documentation, approvals, and system maintenance.
• Establish and maintain projects and WBS structures in EcoSys and support monthly financial data transfers and reporting.
• Assist Project Managers with Estimate at Completion (EAC), forecasting, and project financial analysis.
• Develop and maintain project dashboards and reports in Deltek and Excel.
• Perform regular unbilled reviews and coordinate with Project Managers and Billing to resolve billing issues.
• Prepare financial and operational reports, including accruals, fleet billing, safety reporting, and other ad hoc project analyses.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure project financial information is consistent across systems.

What You'll Bring:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience in project finance, project controls, project accounting, or financial analysis, preferably within professional services, engineering, construction, or consulting.
• Strong understanding of project financial management, forecasting, revenue, billing, WIP/unbilled, accruals, and month-end processes.
• Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, data analysis, and the ability to develop and maintain financial reports and models.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Experience working with ERP, project accounting, or project management systems.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while working effectively with Project Managers, Finance, and Billing teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• • Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint, EcoSys, JDE, or similar project financial systems.
  • Experience with project forecasting, EAC analysis, change orders, rate management, and financial reporting.
  • Experience in an engineering, environmental, utility, infrastructure, or professional services organization.
