About the role

The Chief Engineer is responsible for the overall maintenance and upkeep of the restaurant and hotel facilities, ensuring smooth and efficient operations of all equipment. The primary responsibility includes the installation, maintenance, and repair of air conditioning units and refrigeration systems (freezers and refrigerators), ensuring minimal downtime and efficient operations before external contractors are called for more specialized repairs.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and perform general maintenance tasks across all restaurants and hotel, including plumbing, electrical, and facility upkeep.
• Install, maintain, and repair air conditioners, refrigeration units, freezers, and other related systems.
• Supervise, train, and lead a team, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and according to safety standards.
• Develop and execute preventive maintenance plans for key equipment, including HVAC and refrigeration systems, to prevent breakdowns and ensure energy efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues quickly, reducing the need for external technicians unless specialized intervention is necessary.
• Coordinate with management to schedule routine maintenance that minimizes disruption to operations.
• Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations, including local laws and company standards.
• Maintain inventory of maintenance tools, parts, and supplies, ensuring the timely procurement of necessary materials.
• Prepare maintenance reports and logs for management, providing updates on equipment conditions and any major repairs conducted.

About you

• Proven experience in HVAC systems, refrigeration, and general maintenance, preferably within a hospitality or restaurant setting.
• Strong technical skills in diagnosing and repairing refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
• Knowledge of electrical systems and experience in performing electrical maintenance and basic electrical work.
• Ability to lead and manage a small team, with good communication and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and building codes related to facility maintenance.
• Ability to work independently and handle emergency repairs when required.
