ORGANIZATIONAL PROFILE
Founded through a ballot initiative in 2018, the Civic Engagement Commission promotes civic participation to increase civic trust and strengthen democracy in New York City. The Charter mandates the Commission with running a citywide participatory budgeting program, providing poll site language assistance, providing technical assistance to community boards, partnering with community-based organizations and civic leaders to increase awareness of City services, and assisting City agencies in developing civic engagement initiatives. The Commission also oversees the Taskforce for Racial Inclusion and Equity Neighborhood Coalition program.
About the Vote Language Assistance Program: The Voter Language Assistance (VLA) Program (VLA) provides interpretation services for limited-English-proficient voters during general and primary elections. The program also supports education and outreach initiatives in collaboration with community-based organizations (CBOs), aiming to increase equitable participation in NYC elections.

This role is ideal for a highly organized, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, and is committed to advancing equitable access to civic participation. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational skills, stakeholder management experience, strong attention to detail, and a passion for civic engagement and language equity.
The Project Coordinator will have the following primary responsibilities but not limited to:
- Provide project coordination and operational support for the Voter Language Assistance (VLA) Program, helping keep projects organized, on schedule, and well documented.
- Support election operations, trainings, outreach initiatives, and other program activities to ensure successful execution.
- Coordinate with vendors, community partners, and grantees by tracking deliverables, maintaining documentation, and facilitating communication.
- Assist with planning and execution of meetings, trainings, and public events, including logistical coordination and on-site support.
- Support administration of the VLA microgrant program, including application tracking, recordkeeping, and grant administration activities.
- Collect, organize, and maintain program data [CA1.1] and records to support reporting, presentations, and continuous program improvement.
