Project Costing Manager (Tender)

Position Overview

The Project Costing Manager is responsible for managing the entire tendering process for mechanical and electrical projects, ensuring competitive bids, compliance with client requirements, and alignment with company strategy. This role requires strong technical knowledge, commercial acumen, and leadership in coordinating cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Tender Management: Lead and oversee preparation, submission, and follow-up of tenders for M&E projects.
• Bid Strategy: Develop competitive pricing strategies and ensure alignment with company objectives.
• Documentation: Review tender documents, specifications, and drawings; ensure compliance with client requirements.
• Cost Estimation: Work with QS/estimators to prepare accurate costings, BOQs, and technical proposals.
• Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors to gather quotations and technical inputs.
• Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks in tender submissions and propose mitigation strategies.
• Team Leadership: Guide and mentor QS/estimators to ensure timely and quality submissions.
• Client Engagement: Attend tender briefings, site visits, and clarification meetings with clients.
• Reporting: Present tender status, win/loss analysis, and recommendations to senior management.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Experience: Minimum 7–10 years in tendering/estimating within M&E contracting or construction industry.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of M&E systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection).
• Commercial Skills: Proficiency in cost estimation, contract terms, and negotiation.
• Software Proficiency: Familiarity with tendering software, MS Excel, AutoCAD, and project management tools.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication, analytical thinking, leadership, and time management.
• Language(s): Ability to speak and read in both English and Bahasa Malaysia. Mandarin is an added advantage due to the needs to communicate with China counterparts.
