The Project Delivery Manager will be accountable for the delivery of complex digital, data and technology products and services at AWTG. The role focuses on managing programmes delivered by multiple teams, balancing delivery priorities, removing blockers and ensuring that high-risk work is planned, governed and communicated effectively.
You will work with multidisciplinary teams across network and software engineering, cloud, data, AI, product, QA and client delivery to create practical outcomes for clients and end users.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee complex programmes made up of multiple products, services or workstreams, coordinating delivery across multidisciplinary teams.
- Manage dependencies, risks, blockers, commercial constraints, budgets and people or resource priorities across the programme.
- Maintain delivery momentum by planning beyond individual product delivery, identifying cross-team dependencies and ensuring teams have confidence in delivery plans.
- Act as the initial escalation point for programme delivery issues, including high-risk stakeholder, commercial and delivery challenges.
- Balance competing objectives and support the redeployment of people and resources as priorities change.
- Support programme leadership by translating programme vision into workable delivery plans, governance, reporting and measurable outcomes.
- Coach delivery managers and promote effective Prince 2, Agile, Lean and continuous improvement practices across teams.
Essential skills and experience
- Significant experience managing complex digital, data or technology programmes involving multiple teams or workstreams.
- Expert understanding of Agile and Lean practices, with the ability to tailor delivery approaches through the product or service life cycle.
- Strong commercial and financial management experience, including budgets, supplier relationships, contracts and value for money.
- Ability to communicate complex or high-risk topics clearly to senior technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage risks, dependencies and blockers while maintaining delivery momentum in complex environments.
- Experience coaching delivery managers and improving delivery processes across teams or departments.
Desirable skills and experience
- Experience delivering programmes for public-sector, regulated or high-assurance clients.
- Experience leading programmes that include technology networks, cloud platforms, data products, AI solutions or software engineering delivery.
- Experience establishing programme governance, delivery assurance, reporting frameworks and escalation routes.
What success looks like
- Complex programmes are delivered in a controlled, transparent and outcome-focused way.
- Risks, dependencies, commercial issues and blockers are visible, managed early and escalated appropriately.
- Delivery teams have clear priorities, sustainable ways of working and confidence in the programme plan.
