What they need

About Scene

Scene is a growing architectural practice with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality residential and mixed-use developments across the UK.

Whilst residential development remains a core part of our portfolio, we are increasingly working directly with contractors, developers and delivery teams on complex mixed-use schemes incorporating residential, retail, commercial and community uses. As our workload continues to grow, we are seeking a versatile Architect to run a varied caseload of projects across our residential, mixed-use and other sectors, and play a key role in the future development of the practice.

The Role

We are looking for a versatile ARB-registered Architect to run a varied caseload of projects across residential, mixed-use and other sectors. This role suits someone who enjoys variety, is comfortable taking projects from early design all the way through to working drawings and completion, and can act as the main point of contact for clients, contractors and consultants, working closely with one of our Associate Architects.

Key Responsibilities

● Run the design and delivery of a mixed caseload of projects across RIBA Stages 1 to 6

● Act as lead point of contact for clients, contractors and consultants on assigned projects

● Coordinate input from structural engineers, M&E consultants and other specialists

● Prepare and review planning and Building Regulations submissions

● Manage project programmes, budgets and deliverables, flagging risks early

● Produce and check drawings and documentation, including full working drawing packages, using AutoCAD and/or Revit

● Support business development activity, including proposals and client relationships

● Attend site visits and construction stage meetings as required

Essential Requirements

● ARB registered Architect

● Broad experience across more than one sector, for example residential, education, commercial or mixed-use

● Confident managing multiple projects and competing deadlines

● Strong client-facing communication and negotiation skills

● Understanding of UK Planning Policy and Building Regulations

● Full UK driving license, for site visits

Desirable Requirements

● Experience managing project budgets and consultant teams

● Familiarity with contract administration, such as JCT

● Interest or experience in business development and client growth

● Experience on international projects

Software Skills

Essential

● AutoCAD

● Microsoft Office Suite

Desirable

● Revit

● Adobe Creative Suite

Personal Attributes

● Enjoys variety and adapts easily between project types

● Confident taking ownership of projects and client relationships

● Well organised, able to prioritise across a busy caseload

● Proactive and solutions-focused

● Collaborative, works well within a wider design team

What Success Looks Like

Within the first 12 months, the successful candidate will:

● Be running a varied caseload of projects with confidence and minimal oversight

● Have built strong relationships with clients, contractors and consultants across sectors

● Be contributing to proposals and new business opportunities

● Be recognised as a dependable, adaptable member of the project team

You must have the right to work in the UK. We operate a flexible working pattern between home and the office, currently a 3-day office, 2-day home split, following successful completion of probation.
