Position Overview
The Project Development Analyst helps move construction opportunities from early scope review and pursuit planning through estimating and project handoff. Based in New Jersey, this role supports opportunities across New Jersey and Connecticut and partners closely with project development, estimating, and operations teams.
This technical, hands-on position is ideal for someone who can interpret construction information, identify scope needs and risks, and turn project details into clear next steps. It offers broad exposure to the construction lifecycle and a path toward estimating, project management, or a related operations role.
What You'll Do
· Review drawings, specifications, scopes, addenda, and supporting documents to define pursuit and estimating requirements.
· Evaluate potential opportunities and identify scope gaps, conflicts, risks, and items requiring clarification.
· Partner with project development, estimating, and operations teams to plan pursuits and support bid decisions.
· Gather, organize, and analyze project information used in estimating and proposal development.
· Document key decisions, responsibilities, risks, outstanding needs, and next steps.
· Coordinate project-development information across New Jersey and Connecticut teams.
· Support the handoff of awarded work from project development and estimating to project operations.
· Maintain accurate pursuit records and communicate status, scope details, and open items to stakeholders.
What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
· Relevant experience in electrical, heavy civil, utility, or other project-based construction, or a degree in engineering, construction management, or a related technical field.
· Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, scopes, and other technical project information.
· Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify gaps, risks, and follow-up needs.
· Clear written and verbal communication, strong organization, and attention to detail.
· Ability to collaborate across multiple offices and functional teams while managing competing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
· Bachelor’s or associate degree in engineering, engineering technology, construction management, drafting, estimating, or a related field.
· Experience supporting estimating, preconstruction, project development, project engineering, project controls, or project management.
· Familiarity with quantity takeoffs, cost estimating, bid evaluation, constructability reviews, or pursuit planning.
· Experience coordinating technical information among estimating, engineering, project management, and field teams.
· Internship, apprenticeship, field, or entry-level experience with a contractor, engineering firm, or construction-management organization.
Interest in growing into an estimator, assistant project manager, project manager, or related construction-operations role.
