At the centre of our scope is a new Container Sorting Facility in Scotland , which will receive, sort and process returned beverage containers when the scheme commences in October 2027.
Re.Group is an Australian-owned resource recovery company with extensive experience in container deposit schemes, recycling technology and high-throughput processing facilities.
We are seeking an experienced Project Director with a strong industrial project delivery background, ideally supported by mechanical engineering experience, to lead the integrated implementation and mobilisation programme.
About the role
Based in Edinburgh or Glasgow and reporting to the Managing Director or nominated Executive Sponsor, you will lead the multiple workstreams required to bring the facility into successful operation.
This is a senior client-side leadership role combining project delivery oversight with broader programme management, commercial accountability and operational mobilisation.
Re.Group's Technical Services team in Australia will lead the technical design and engineering delivery. Your focus will be on ensuring the broader programme comes together, aligning project, technology, commercial and operational activities against contractual milestones, budgets and Day 1 performance requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the integrated implementation and mobilisation programme across all project, commercial, technology and operational workstreams.
- Provide senior client-side oversight of facility delivery, coordinating contractors, delivery partners and Technical Services.
- Manage the master programme, including milestones, dependencies, risks, budgets, forecasts and contractual obligations.
- Establish effective governance, reporting and escalation across UK and Australian teams.
- Coordinate local mobilisation across people, systems, suppliers and operational support arrangements.
- Manage senior client, contractor and stakeholder relationships, ensuring clear accountability and timely decisions.
- Oversee commissioning readiness, operational start-up and the transition into ongoing operations.
About you
You will be an accomplished Senior Project Manager or Project Director with experience delivering complex industrial or infrastructure projects and coordinating multiple workstreams through to operational commencement.
Ideally, you will bring:
- Significant senior project management experience in industrial, processing or infrastructure environments.
- A mechanical engineering background or substantial experience with mechanically intensive plant and equipment.
- Client-side or asset-owner project delivery experience, including oversight of contractors and specialist delivery partners.
- Experience managing complex projects or programmes involving multiple technical, commercial and operational workstreams.
- Strong project controls, programme governance, financial, contractual and risk management capability.
- A demonstrated track record of delivering facilities through commissioning, start-up and operational handover.
Experience in recycling, resource recovery, materials processing, manufacturing or similar operational environments would be advantageous.
Why join us?
This is an opportunity to play a central role in establishing a major new recycling facility from the ground up, working with experienced teams in Scotland and Australia.
If you have the technical understanding, commercial capability and project leadership experience to bring complex industrial programmes through to successful operational commencement, we'd like to hear from you.
