Project Director – Data Center Construction

Location: Thailand, with assignment to project sites as required
Reports to: Executive Management / Head of Construction
Project focus: Hyperscale and mission critical data centers

Role purpose

The Project Director has overall responsibility for delivering assigned data center projects safely, on time, within the approved budget, and in accordance with the contract and the client’s operational requirements. The role leads the project from preconstruction and design coordination through procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover.

Key responsibilities

• Lead project delivery: Establish the execution strategy, project organization, master schedule, budget, reporting procedures, and decision process. Direct the CSA, MEP, planning, commercial, quality, and safety teams.
• Manage the client relationship: Serve as the senior project contact for the client, consultants, and key stakeholders. Resolve issues promptly and provide clear reporting on progress, risks, and decisions required.
• Control schedule and resources: Protect critical milestones, including design releases, long lead equipment, utility connections, energization, commissioning, and handover. Develop recovery plans when performance falls behind.
• Oversee design and procurement: Coordinate constructability reviews, design changes, subcontract packages, vendor interfaces, and procurement of critical systems and equipment.
• Direct site execution: Ensure subcontractors deliver civil, structural, architectural, electrical, mechanical, fire protection, and controls works in the required sequence and to the specified quality.
• Own commercial performance: Manage project cost, cash flow, forecasts, change orders, claims, subcontractor performance, and contract obligations. Escalate material risks early.
• Lead safety and quality: Set expectations for safe work, inspections, testing, defect resolution, and compliance with applicable permits, codes, specifications, and client requirements.
• Drive commissioning and handover: Coordinate construction completion with equipment vendors, the commissioning team, and client operations. Oversee testing readiness, integrated systems testing, documentation, training, punch lists, and final acceptance.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, or a related field.
• Typically 15+ years of construction experience, including substantial leadership of large, technically complex projects.
• Demonstrated experience delivering data centers or comparable mission critical facilities with significant electrical and mechanical scope.
• Strong knowledge of project controls, subcontract procurement, contract administration, change management, and multidisciplinary construction sequencing.
• Working understanding of critical power, cooling, controls, fire protection, and the dependencies between energization and commissioning.
• Proven ability to lead large teams and communicate with senior clients and executives in English. Experience delivering projects in Thailand is preferred.

Safe execution; achievement of contractual milestones; reliable cost and margin forecasts; timely resolution of design and procurement risks; successful commissioning; and client acceptance with complete handover records.
