What they need

Project Director, STRIVE NEXT

Organization: Cahaba Medical Care Foundation

Department: The HIVE (Hub for HIV Excellence), Graduate Medical Education

Reports to: Principal Investigator, STRIVE NEXT

Supervises: Program Coordinator

Status: Full-time (1.0 FTE), exempt

Location: Birmingham, Alabama, with regional and national travel

Position summary

The Project Director leads day-to-day operations of STRIVE NEXT, a four-year HRSA cooperative agreement (HRSA-26-108) that makes Cahaba the national coordinating hub for HIV clinical training in primary care residency programs. Working closely with the Principal Investigator, the Project Director turns the grant work plan into a working operation across 8 to 10 partner residency programs, manages partner relationships and federal deliverables, and builds the HIVE into a lasting department. The role also supports related Cahaba graduate medical education and grant-funded initiatives as assigned, so the right candidate will be comfortable leading across more than one program.

STRIVE NEXT operations (primary)

  • Manage the national implementation calendar, milestones, and work plan for up to ten partner residency programs
  • Serve as the main operational contact for partner Site Physician Project Leads and Project Support Persons
  • Lead monthly operational check-ins with each site and track issues to resolution
  • Coordinate site readiness assessments, onboarding, and implementation plans
  • Partner with the Finance Manager on subaward execution, timelines, and subrecipient monitoring
  • Coordinate technical assistance to sites with the Academic Content Lead and Social Work Training Faculty
  • Plan the partner kickoff and the annual in-person network convening in Birmingham
  • Prepare cooperative agreement deliverables, including annual progress reports and Non-Competing Continuation reports, with the PI and Evaluation Lead
  • Maintain the HIVE meeting rhythm and project documentation
  • Supervise and support the Program Coordinator
  • Work with Cahaba's community development team on STRIVE marketing, recruitment materials, and communications
  • Coordinate and attend monthly check-ins with the HRSA project officer, and track follow-up items, approvals, and deliverables
  • Represent STRIVE NEXT at bimonthly AETC network meetings and other AETC and HRSA HIV/AIDS Bureau calls, trainings, and conferences
  • Stay current on AETC and HRSA requirements, reporting deadlines, policy updates, and network communications, and share what matters with the team

Organizational support (as assigned)

  • Support other Cahaba grant-funded, GME, and HIV care initiatives, including project planning, grant applications, and reporting
  • Contribute to department-building for the HIVE, including policies, workflows, and sustainability planning

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, health administration, education, or a related field
  • At least 3 years managing multi-site or federally funded health, workforce, or education programs
  • Experience with federal grant reporting and subrecipient or partner coordination
  • Strong organization, communication, and project management skills
  • Ability to travel regionally and nationally

Preferred

  • Master's degree (MPH, MHA, MBA, MEd, or similar)
  • Experience with HRSA awards and 2 CFR Part 200
  • Background in graduate medical education, community health centers, or HIV care
  • Familiarity with the AIDS Education and Training Center (AETC) Program, Ryan White, or other HRSA HIV/AIDS Bureau programs
  • Project management certification (PMP or similar)

Funding and effort

This position is funded primarily through a federal HRSA cooperative agreement and is designated key personnel. Time spent on other Cahaba initiatives will be documented through time and effort reporting and allocated to the appropriate funding source.

Cahaba Medical Care is an equal opportunity employer.
