Project Engineer – AI / IoT / Retail Technology

About the role

We are looking for a technically capable, commercially driven and customer-focused Project Engineer to support our growing AI, IoT, CCTV, people-counting, video analytics, retail analytics and smart-technology business. This is a hybrid technical, B2B sales, solutions and project-delivery role. The successful candidate must be able to communicate directly with B2B customers, understand business and operational requirements, present technology solutions, support sales opportunities, conduct technical discussions, prepare proposals, coordinate project implementation, configure equipment, troubleshoot technical issues, conduct testing and commissioning, and support successful project handover.

Key responsibilities

• Support the complete customer and project lifecycle from B2B lead through to after-sales support
• Bridge the gap between business requirements and technical implementation
• Conduct site surveys by assessing installation locations, camera positions, network availability, power and PoE requirements, cable routes, Internet connectivity, equipment locations and site limitations
• Configure devices, network connectivity, cameras and IoT devices during deployment
• Conduct testing, troubleshoot technical issues, coordinate contractors and follow up corrective actions
• Ensure systems are properly tested before customer handover, including device connectivity, network connectivity, camera connectivity, IoT communication, server/cloud connectivity, AI functionality, data verification, API/integration testing, system performance and User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
• Attend customer meetings, conduct technical discovery, understand operational requirements and recommend solutions
• Prepare basic solution architecture, recommend hardware/software, support technical proposals and quotations
• Conduct product demonstrations and support POC/pilot discussions
• Maintain professional customer relationships throughout the project lifecycle, including providing regular updates and after-sales support

About you

• Proven B2B experience dealing directly with businesses, corporate customers, enterprise clients, retailers, system integrators, distributors or other commercial organisations
• Previous sales experience, preferably in technology, IT, telecommunications, engineering, security, AI, IoT, CCTV, software, cloud or system integration sales
• Previous experience selling, promoting, supporting or commercially managing AI solutions, AI video analytics, people-counting systems, footfall analytics, customer traffic analytics, occupancy monitoring, queue analytics, CCTV/IP cameras, video surveillance, NVR/VMS, security systems, access control, IoT solutions, smart-building technology, smart-retail solutions, retail analytics, edge AI, cloud monitoring, computer vision or digital-transformation solutions

Ability to communicate professionally in English, Mandarin and Japanese

• Practical technical knowledge sufficient to support AI, IoT, CCTV, networking and technology projects
• Basic-to-intermediate networking knowledge including IP addressing, IPv4, DHCP, static IP, subnetting, default gateway, DNS, LAN/WAN, Ethernet, TCP/IP, routers, network switches, managed and unmanaged switches, PoE switches, basic VLAN concepts, basic firewall concepts, Internet connectivity, bandwidth and device-to-server communication
• Practical CCTV/IP camera experience including understanding of IP cameras, PoE cameras, camera installation, IP configuration, bandwidth requirements, NVR/VMS concepts, RTSP, ONVIF, video streaming, camera positioning, firmware and commissioning
• Basic practical knowledge of IoT device deployment and configuration
• Basic programming or scripting knowledge, preferably Python, including understanding of basic programming logic, Python fundamentals, simple scripts, JSON, APIs, REST API concepts, data exchange and basic automation
