Project Engineer (BSCE/BSME) — Infrastructure Projects — Puerto Rico

Avvia is a Puerto Rico–based technical advisory boutique providing engineering, construction management, and real estate advisory services to developers, asset owners, and public-sector clients. Our work spans infrastructure, industrial facilities, and public-private partnership (PPP) projects across the island.

About the Role:

We're looking for a Project Engineer to support the delivery of infrastructure-focused engineering and construction projects. You'll work closely with our project leadership, contractors, and design teams to keep projects on schedule, on budget, and in compliance with applicable codes and standards. This is a strong opportunity for an early-career civil or mechanical engineer to gain hands-on experience across a variety of infrastructure project types.

Responsibilities:

• Support day-to-day coordination of infrastructure construction and engineering projects

• Review plans, specifications, and shop drawings; coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and design engineers

• Conduct field observations and inspections; document progress and quality

• Assist with project scheduling, budget tracking, and cost control

• Prepare RFIs, submittals, technical reports, and change-order documentation

• Support QA/QC efforts and verify compliance with applicable codes

• Coordinate with permitting and regulatory agencies as needed

• Support procurement and documentation for public infrastructure projects

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) or Mechanical Engineering (BSME) required

• Prior internship, co-op, or project experience in construction or infrastructure engineering preferred but not required

• EIT certification a plus, not required

• Proficient in MS Office/Excel; familiarity with AutoCAD, MS Project, or similar tools a plus

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites throughout Puerto Rico

• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills; comfortable working both independently and as part of a team

Compensation:

Starting at $27.00 per hour, with growth potential based on performance and experience.
