What they need

Proserve has an opportunity for a civil engineer with experience to join its Engineering and Construction team. The role would suit a practical and technically able individual capable of producing detailed and constructible solutions and supporting their installation on site in the UK and worldwide.

The position is based in Warwickshire, client facing, and requires critical thinking, planning for effective project implementation, the development of temporary and permanent construction solutions to a high level, production of construction documentation, attending sites for solution development meetings, and providing installation support and training. It will be challenging, demanding and varied, and offers real opportunities for skill and career development as a rounded and capable engineer.

ABOUT PROSERVE

We design, develop, fabricate and support the implementation of construction methods using fabric formed insitu concrete. Our solutions are engineered for one-time construction, ensuring the design and construction requirements are achieved first time.

We are involved in projects globally with applications such as port scour protection and marine bridge foundations, working on some of the largest maritime projects in the world. Our construction methods are adopted by the world's most capable marine contractors. Attention to detail is essential.

HOW WE WORK

  • Appropriate solutions. Construction underwater requires practical and effective solutions. If we don't think our method is the most appropriate, we will encourage designers and contractors to use different techniques.

  • Achieving design intent. Throughout our involvement we are focused on ensuring what is needed is built.

  • Process discipline. We define the process needed to secure the outcome, then oversee its implementation. Checklists, sequence and hold points are not administration. They are the mechanism by which the design intent is converted into cast concrete underwater.

  • Advancing industry knowledge. We undertake research and development to create design guidance for our area of work, and share best practice and case histories to support continuous improvement in marine construction.

REQUIREMENTS

A successful candidate will:

  • Hold a degree in civil or structural engineering, normally. A strong site record and our assessments can substitute.

  • Have demonstrable practical experience from construction sites.

  • Be proficient at producing drawings and engineering documents.

  • Have the flexibility to travel in the UK and overseas for project work, with overnight stays.

  • Have demonstrable ability to thoroughly plan for effective implementation.

  • Be effective communicating with those from different cultures and first languages.

  • Ideally have experience working in a design office and on site ensuring those designs are built to specification.

REMUNERATION

  • £35,000 to £60,000 depending on experience

  • ICE membership fees

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

We will support you to become an expert in marine construction methods using fabric formed insitu concrete. We will do this with tailored training, one to one coaching and practical exposure. We will also support chartership progression via the Mentor Supported Training route.

ADVICE FOR APPLICANTS

  1. Outline a time you identified that a theoretical solution to a problem was impractical, and the steps you took to improve it.

  2. Outline a time where someone suggested a practical change to a solution you were planning, and how you assessed whether it was technically adequate, or not.

  3. Describe your understanding of the main challenges to overcome in marine construction.

Complete the Indeed assessments when they are sent. We do not read CVs without them. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

APPLICATION PROCESS

  1. Complete application and assessments.
