Project Engineer

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Project Planning, Site Management & Execution

• Plan, coordinate, and supervise civil and architectural works in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, schedules, and contractual requirements.
• Prepare and monitor project schedules, work programmes, milestones, and progress charts to ensure timely completion.
• Supervise civil works including concrete, drainage, earthworks, foundations, roads and external works, and architectural works including brickwork, plastering, screeding, waterproofing, tiling, painting, ceilings, flooring, doors, windows and finishes.
• Conduct regular site inspections and monitor progress, workmanship, quality, safety, and compliance.
• Identify and report site issues, defects, discrepancies, non-conformities, delays, and construction constraints to the Project Manager, and follow up on corrective actions.

2. Reporting, Manpower & Daily Job Allocation

• Report directly to the Project Manager on daily site activities, progress, manpower deployment, site conditions, delays, outstanding matters, and issues requiring management attention.
• Coordinate daily and weekly manpower planning and allocate personnel according to work priorities, programme, site conditions, and project requirements.
• Ensure site personnel understand their assigned scope, location, priorities, and expected deliverables; monitor attendance, productivity, and utilization.
• Identify manpower requirements, optimize deployment, and coordinate subcontractor manpower to ensure adequate resources are available.
• Maintain accurate records of daily activities, manpower deployment, inspections, progress, issues, and corrective actions.

3. Technical Documentation & Coordination

• Prepare, submit, and follow up on Method Statements, Work Procedures, ITPs, material submissions, shop drawings, and other technical documentation.
• Review civil and architectural drawings and specifications; identify discrepancies and coordinate resolution with clients, consultants, architects, and relevant parties.
• Ensure the latest approved drawings and technical documents are available and properly controlled at site.
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors; monitor progress, quality, manpower, productivity, and compliance with project requirements.
• Attend site and coordination meetings, inspections and testing, and prepare meeting minutes, action lists, and site reports where required.

4. Materials, Procurement, Progress & Cost Control

• Coordinate material requirements and deliveries; monitor availability, usage, wastage, machinery, equipment, and other site resources.
• Assist the Project Manager with material sourcing, supplier coordination, procurement planning, and subcontractor sourcing.
• Monitor project performance against schedules, budgets, and work programmes and prepare weekly/monthly progress reports.
• Assist with site measurements, quantity verification, progress claims, variations, additional works, site instructions, cost monitoring, forecasting, and supporting documentation.

5. Quality, Problem Solving & Project Improvement

• Ensure civil and architectural works comply with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and contractual requirements.
• Coordinate inspections, testing, approvals, and quality documentation; monitor workmanship and ensure corrective actions are completed.
• Provide practical technical solutions to site and construction issues and recommend appropriate Civil Engineer responsible for planning, designing, supervising, and managing civil construction projects to ensure they are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved plans, specifications, and applicable standards. Experienced in site supervision, project coordination, quantity estimation, quality control, construction documentation, and liaising with contractors, consultants, and clients. Skilled in monitoring project progress, resolving site issues, ensuring compliance with safety requirements, and delivering projects within schedule and budget.actions to the Project Manager.
• Support initiatives to improve productivity, quality, cost efficiency, resource utilization, and overall project delivery.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related Engineering/Construction discipline.
• Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) where applicable.
• Minimum 5–7 years of relevant experience in civil construction, building, infrastructure, railway, or related projects, with proven experience in civil and architectural works.
• Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs, QA/QC requirements, and site procedures.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong project planning, site coordination, manpower management, reporting, cost control, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with sound technical knowledge; able to work independently and under pressure.
• Willing to work across Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, and Negeri Sembilan; possess own transport and valid driving licence.
• Possess a valid CIDB Green Card.
• Candidates available to commence immediately or within a short notice period will be highly preferred.
