Project Engineer

About the role

Boon Boon Builder Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team in Sibu, Sarawak. This is a full-time position that will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing construction projects from inception through to completion. As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that all projects are executed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with specifications and timelines. This role is integral to our operations, directly impacting project success, client satisfaction, and the company's reputation in the construction industry.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and supervise construction projects, ensuring adherence to project schedules, budgets and quality standards
• Conduct site inspections and monitor progress to ensure work is carried out in accordance with approved designs and specifications
• Liaise with architects, contractors, subcontractors and clients to ensure effective communication and project coordination
• Identify potential technical issues and implement corrective measures to prevent delays or cost overruns
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including progress reports, meeting minutes and as-built records
• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, environmental standards and building codes throughout the project lifecycle
• Conduct site meetings and toolbox talks to communicate project updates and safety protocols to the on-site teams
• Review material deliveries and quality control testing to ensure specifications are met
• Support the estimation and tender process by providing technical input and feasibility assessments
• Manage project resources including personnel, equipment and materials to optimise efficiency and cost-effectiveness

What we're looking for

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in project engineering or site engineering within the construction industry
• Proficiency in project management tools and software such as Microsoft Project, AutoCAD or similar applications
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, building codes and safety regulations in Malaysia
• Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with diverse stakeholders
• Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges
• Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required
• Professional certification such as PE (Professional Engineer) or a relevant engineering certification is an advantage
