Join Our Growing Team

We are growing and looking for another Project Engineer to join our team!

With several new projects recently awarded and many more projects underway, our company continues to grow throughout the North Bay. Because of this growth and our expanding workload, we are looking for a motivated Project Engineer to join our team in Santa Rosa, California.

We are a general contractor and builder looking for someone who wants to build a career in construction, take ownership of their work, and grow with our company. This is a hands-on position where you will be involved in the day-to-day management and coordination of active construction projects.

The Project Engineer will work closely with our Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, architects, engineers, owners, inspectors, suppliers, and vendors to help keep projects organized, on schedule, properly documented, and moving forward.

We are looking for someone who is organized, dependable, proactive, detail-oriented, and willing to learn. This is not strictly a desk position. You will be involved with both the office and field sides of construction and will be expected to understand what is happening on your projects.

Prior construction experience is required. Experience working for a general contractor, subcontractor, developer, architect, engineer, construction management company, or in the trades is preferred.

What You Will Be Responsible For

As a Project Engineer, you will assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with the overall administration, documentation, coordination, and execution of construction projects from preconstruction through project closeout.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

Submittals & Shop Drawings

  • Prepare, maintain, and manage project submittal logs.
  • Request submittals, product data, samples, and shop drawings from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Review submittals for general completeness and coordination with the plans and specifications before sending them to the design team.
  • Submit documents to architects, engineers, and consultants for review and approval.
  • Track the status of all submittals and follow up on overdue items.
  • Distribute approved submittals to subcontractors, suppliers, the Superintendent, and other affected team members.
  • Track resubmittals and rejected or revised submittals until final approval.
  • Identify long-lead materials associated with submittals and communicate potential schedule concerns.
  • Confirm materials being ordered match approved submittals.

Requests for Information – RFIs

  • Prepare, submit, and track project RFIs.
  • Work with the Superintendent and Project Manager to identify conflicts, missing information, discrepancies, and constructability issues.
  • Clearly document questions with appropriate drawings, photos, sketches, and supporting information.
  • Maintain an accurate and current RFI log.
  • Follow up with architects, engineers, consultants, and other parties regarding outstanding RFIs.
  • Distribute RFI responses to affected subcontractors and field personnel.
  • Review responses with the Superintendent and Project Manager.
  • Track RFIs that may result in additional cost, change orders, or schedule impacts.
  • Make sure important RFI responses are incorporated into the current project information.

Project Scheduling

  • Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with development and maintenance of the project schedule.
  • Assist with short-term and look-ahead schedules.
  • Track project milestones and critical dates.
