Remote | Nationwide Travel Required

Penhall Company is looking for a Project Engineer to join our Major Projects team. This is a great opportunity for someone with construction experience who wants to grow their project management career while working directly with field operations on major projects across the country.

This is not a traditional desk-based engineering position. You will spend significant time supporting active construction projects, working alongside Project Managers, Superintendents, field crews, customers, and other project stakeholders.

What You'll Do

• Support the planning and execution of large and complex construction projects
• Work closely with Project Managers and field leadership to keep projects moving safely and efficiently
• Coordinate labor, equipment, materials, and other project resources
• Track project costs, production, labor, and manhours
• Assist with project scheduling, lookaheads, sequencing, and coordination
• Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project documentation
• Assist with RFIs, submittals, change orders, and other project documentation
• Help identify and resolve issues in the field
• Communicate with general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams
• Assist with project meetings and customer communication
• Support project closeout activities
• Travel to active project sites throughout the United States as project needs require

What We're Looking For

• 2+ years of experience in construction, heavy civil, demolition, concrete, or a related field
• Experience working around active construction projects and field operations
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications
• Understanding of project costs, scheduling, production, and documentation
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently while also working closely with field teams
• Strong problem-solving and attention to detail
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Experience with Procore or similar construction software is a plus
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively to project sites nationwide
