Shape the Future with Us. At Lubrizol, we’re bringing to life the chemistry behind clean water, efficient transportation, reliable infrastructure, critical medicines, and the products people rely on every day through science, sustainability, and a culture of inclusion.

As part of our global team, you’ll be empowered to make a real impact - on your career, your community, and the world around you.

Job Type: Full-time; On-site

How You’ll Make An Impact As a Project Engineer, you'll play a critical role in shaping the future of our Avon Lake manufacturing operations by leading high-impact capital projects that enhance safety, reliability, efficiency, and plant performance. From modernizing production assets and driving capacity expansions to implementing innovative engineering solutions, you'll help transform ideas into operational results. You'll partner with cross-functional teams across Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and HSES to deliver projects that improve how we work today while building a stronger, more sustainable future. If you're energized by solving complex technical challenges, leading meaningful change, and seeing your projects come to life in a manufacturing environment, this is an opportunity to make a lasting impact.

In This Role, You Will

  • Lead capital projects from concept through startup, defining scope, engineering strategy, schedules, budgets, and execution plans while aligning key stakeholders.
  • Manage engineering design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup activities to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Integrate Process Safety Management (PSM), health, safety, environmental, and security requirements into project design and execution to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
  • Incorporate continuous improvement, energy efficiency, and equipment reliability initiatives into project solutions.
  • Serve as the technical lead for assigned projects by developing and approving engineering designs, equipment specifications, and construction packages.
  • Lead cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, maintenance, contractors, consultants, and suppliers to achieve project objectives.
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies that protect safety, schedule, cost, and business continuity.
  • Provide technical expertise to resolve complex engineering challenges and support successful project handover to operations.

Required Qualifications That Enable Your Success

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Five or more years of experience leading capital projects, project engineering, or project management initiatives in manufacturing, chemical processing, or industrial environments.
  • Proven success managing projects from concept development through design, construction, commissioning, startup, and operational handover.
  • Knowledge of engineering standards, Process Safety Management requirements, industry codes, and regulatory compliance within industrial operations.
  • Experience managing project scope, budgets, schedules, contractors, and stakeholder communications.
  • Ability to review and interpret engineering drawings and design packages developed with AutoDesk or similar engineering software.
  • Proficiency with SAP, Microsoft Office applications, and document management systems.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications That Drive You Forward

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure.
  • Experience leading capital projects within chemical manufacturing, specialty chemicals, petrochemicals, refining, consumer products, or other process manufacturing environments.

Your Work Environment Role At Lubrizol, we’re committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment where you can do your best work—whether in a lab, on the production floor, or in a hybrid office setting. Depending on your role, your work environment may include:
