Project Engineer

Job Purpose

The Project Engineer is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, supervision, and successful execution of the Company’s construction and development projects. The role ensures that projects are delivered in accordance with approved designs, specifications, quality standards, timelines, budgets, health and safety requirements, and applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the planning, scheduling, coordination, and execution of construction and development projects.

Review project drawings, specifications, schedules, BOQs, technical documents, and work plans to ensure accuracy and constructability.

Coordinate and supervise contractors, subcontractors, artisans, consultants, suppliers, and other project personnel on assigned projects.

Monitor daily site activities and ensure work is carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, methods, and project requirements. Conduct regular site inspections to identify defects, deviations, delays, safety concerns, and other project issues.

Ensure construction activities comply with approved designs, engineering standards, quality requirements, and applicable building regulations. Monitor project progress against approved timelines, milestones, and deliverables and promptly report delays or risks.

Assist with project cost monitoring and ensure materials, labour, equipment, and other resources are properly utilised.

Verify quantities and materials delivered to site and ensure they meet approved specifications and quality requirements.

Liaise with the Quantity Surveyor, Architect, Surveyor, contractors, consultants, procurement team, and other relevant stakeholders to resolve technical and project-related matters.

Review and provide technical input on contractor submissions, shop drawings, method statements, material samples, and other technical documentation.

Identify technical challenges and recommend practical solutions to the Project Director/Head of Projects.

Monitor workmanship and ensure that corrective actions are implemented where work does not meet required standards.

Support the implementation and maintenance of project quality control and quality assurance procedures. Ensure proper documentation of site activities, inspections, measurements, approvals, variations, defects, and corrective actions.

Prepare regular project progress reports, site reports, technical reports, and other required project documentation.

Participate in project meetings, site meetings, inspections, testing, commissioning, and handover activities.

Monitor contractors' performance and escalate persistent non-compliance, delays, poor workmanship, or contractual concerns.

Ensure proper coordination of project activities to minimise delays, rework, waste, and unnecessary costs. Support the identification and management of project risks and contribute to appropriate mitigation measures.

Ensure that health, safety, environmental, and site-control requirements are observed throughout project execution.

Support project handover, snagging, defect identification, rectification, and final completion processes.

Maintain accurate project records, drawings, reports, photographs, approvals, certificates, and other relevant documentation.
